Da Rocchio Ristorante Italiano — Restaurant in Bradford

Attended Rocca last night and to be honest was very disappointed....sad to say but from our previous experience has gone downhill. Ordered the deep fried potato skins with hot chilli and garlic dip to start my partner ordered the pate ...maybe i am naive but i expected much more than fried potato peelings...yes literally fried potato peelings! Should i have expected more? I think so! The pate arrived with a small bread roll cut in half...just one...a teaspoon of chutney...athough to be fair quite a significant sized portion of wet dog flavoured pate. Onto the main...i ordered a sirloin. This i asked to be cooked "medium" so expecting a bit of blood but not to much. This apparently served with potatoes and veg....it came unseasoned....chewy and done! With soggy spuds a single pea shoot and 2 cherry tomatoes cooked and halved. I cook better steak at home and i am no chef. My partner ordered the lamb shank in red wine jus....received lamb shank in minted gravy. With a side of soggy vegetables. I am not making this up it is 100% true. All done we ask for the bill....15 minutes later the waiter is still at the bar laughing and joking with i assume his friends....still waiting.....eventually catch the attention of another waiter who brings the bill promptly. Maybe i was impatient with the first waiter...maybe...but my partner and i were sat there for 15 minutes drinks empty food gone...should we have to wait that long? I don't think so. We were reluctant to go, sadly based on past experience during its former days of Villa Roma. However, after hearing lots of good things, we decided to give it a whirl. Wow - so glad we did. We were really impressed when we went. They do a lovely take on a prawn cocktail - the addition of brandy adds a lovely flavour twist (very subtle, so if not a brandy lover, don't let that put you off). My wife had the smoked salmon and prawn cocktail - very fresh and tasty salmon - excellent. My Americano pizza was divine - lovely thin, crisp base, tasty fresh toppings with a kick from the chillis. My wife has a pasta bake, so full of flavour and beautifully fresh. We shared a great bottle of wine to wash it down with, along with a lovely syrup sponge pudding to finish. Great friendly service with a smile from everyone, and price-wise bang on what we'd expect to pay. We'll be back soon - thoroughly...

We ate here last night, for my Daughters birthday, they don't usually open on Tuesdays, but they made an exception because a large birthday party had already been booked. It was excellent, the food, the drinks and the service were all first class. We had a mixture of starters, calamari, ribs and prawns, all delicious. My Husband and I chose the sea bass as our mains, cooked to perfection and with a nice side of vegetables. My Daughter and Granddaughter chose the steaks, again cooked to perfection and nicely presented. The service was exceptionally good, even though it was really busy, we didn't have to wait long for anything. All the staff were friendly and attentive, nothing was to much trouble. Loved the surprise birthday hat and complimentary drink at the end. All in all it was a lovely evening and one which we will definitely wish to repeat...
