back in July 2024, ordered new stuff such as the skewers and chicken palmo, and scallop and prawn starter. Food is delicious, but the starter portion is really stingy, there was just the one scallop that was halved and four small sized prawns with lots of cheese, and this starter costs £11.50. the mains are better value, especially the lamb skewer, lots of meat, tad overcooked but tasty enough. Back again in September 2023. Menu has changed again, but think better. Well, more to my preference. The schnitzel was delightful, so was the baked pie. Decent portions that we didn't even have to order starter or desserts as we were full from clearing our plates. I downloaded the vintage inn app and hope to become more of a regular to enjoy the amazing offers such as complimentary drink and pretty much 50% discount on my second or third visit. Service was great and didn't mind me bugging them with the app multiple times so I can enjoy the app offer. Seating was obviously most magnificent with the cow and calf rocks right in front of the pub. return for V Day 2023: something's off, service not as attentive, steak tad chewy, menu choices not as appetizing as what we had months ago. But desserts still good, so is calamari starter. Back again in July 2022, and to redeem my birthday free prosecco. Sat outdoors to enjoy the view. Ordered chef specials of prawn linguine and pork belly. Good portions. Also got calamari and chicken wings starters plus fries as sides. All good, though I miss the sweet potato fries we had last. Spoilt for choices, we went for lamb rack and fish cakes in the end plus extra sweet potato fries side, and brownie and crumble for dessert. Really fresh lamb, great handmade fishcake, brownie with the liquor ice cream is heavenly. Lovely service, good seating. Must join the club or app for extras freebies or discounts or specials.

The Cow and Calf at Ilkley Moor is an absolute gem! Nestled in a gorgeous location, it offers stunning views of the moorland, making it a perfect destination for both locals and visitors alike. The surrounding landscape is truly breathtaking, and the pub is ideally situated to take full advantage of this natural beauty. Parking is convenient with a variety of options available. Whether you prefer to park in the nearby car park or on the verge just outside the pub, you won’t have any trouble finding a spot, even during busy times. The ease of access is definitely a plus for those who might be stopping by after a long hike or simply exploring the area. Although we had already eaten before arriving, it was clear from the menu that the food options are very tempting. The dishes we saw being served looked delicious, and it was a bit of a shame that we couldn’t sample them ourselves. If the food tastes as good as it looks, then it's definitely worth trying on your next visit. We visited the Cow and Calf primarily as a rest stop after a long hike across Ilkley Moor. The pub provided a perfect spot to unwind, enjoy a drink, and take in the views. In our case, a drink and a snack were just what we needed. The atmosphere is welcoming, and it feels like the kind of place where you can truly relax and soak in the surroundings. In summary, whether you’re looking for a delicious meal, a quick snack, or just a place to relax after exploring Ilkley Moor, the Cow and Calf is a perfect choice. I’ll definitely be returning to try the food and enjoy more of what this lovely pub has to offer.

We came here for a family meal one Saturday night after not visiting since I was a child. The scenery here is absolutely gorgeous and the place gets very busy so I recommend booking a table in advance. However when we arrived the place was probably half full and unfortunately we were left waiting stood around for 10 minutes on arrival wondering what was happening, not the best first impression to be honest. There was also people that arrived after us, were seated first and their orders taken before ours, we felt slightly unwanted to say the least. The food however was absolutely delicious and I would return on this basis alone. We ordered the Scotch Egg to start with (which didn’t even feature on the menu my partner was given by the way, he was surprised when I suggested it and we realised we had been given different menus, a few things on mine were not on his and vice versa) and also the chorizo sausages to share between us, both tasted amazing! My little boy had the kids chicken nuggets and chips which he enjoyed and finished. My partner had the slow cooked pork belly which tasted absolutely delicious and even with his massive appetite, he couldn’t finish it all!!! I ordered the duo of lamb which featured lamp rump along side a shepherds pie and it was the best I’ve ever had, I want to back purely to have the lamb again!! We also tried some sides, Mac and cheese and potato dauphinois, both tasted lovely but came in a tiny bowls unfortunately. For a fiver each, you would expect more. Unfortunately the service let the place down for us and it’s not cheap either, it would not stop me going again though as the food be was so tasty but overall a disappointment for such an iconic place. My friend suggested that we visit here on our way back home after a short break nearby. I have never been before and trusted his recommendation. I am so glad that we visited this gorgeous place. The staff are very welcoming when you arrive and although it was a busy Friday afternoon, they happily found us a table for two. The food is outstanding. I had the King prawn and Mango cocktail. I must admit, I was expecting it to look like any ordinary prawn cocktail starter. However, to my surprise, it came warm and on a cute saucer! To be honest, it was a nice change to have it like that and it soon went :-) The main course I chose was the Country Chicken Sandwich. Now, I dislike Avocado very much but you hardly tasted it in the sandwich and it was sooo yummy, just enough not to make me feel over full. There is one thing to watch out for... the small bundle of mischief called Kerry! She is an amazing waitress and it's clear that she loves what she does. However, she has a brilliant knack of convincing you to order a "large" glass of wine and a dessert - simply because it's Friday afternoon :-) ;-)

The cow and calf pub is one of the best pub I had visited in UK. Quietly placed near the cow and calf spot of the Ilkley moor it's a definite goto pub. I loved the interior decoration and the ambience which will definitely turn you on. The food was great there. I had a Guiness beer with a vegetarian stone baked Pizza which was delightful. We also tried desserts there which was fantastic. The staffs are courteous and friendly. We got a corner seat which was well decorated and maintained. A definite visit if you are visiting the moor. I will definitely visit them again and stay there for couple of days since they have rooms.

Our welcome to the Cow and calf was so warm , the bar and restaurant are excellent, my only observation would be to turn up the heating in the bar and restaurant and bedrooms during this cold spell , after sitting down stairs in a draughty bar area we went to our room to a window leak in room 4 , not much warmer. A new radiator heater was very kindly provided The housekeeping is excellent , No complaints, just an observation. Maybe yorkshire folk are hardier than us Southport folk? 🤔 Would love to stay here again, the views are stunning, and a lovely walk up the hill is a must.
