Never been before, passed it often so I thought I would pop in. Lovely inside, lady at the till was really smiley that's the only reason I gave one star it is solely for her. I ordered a toastie a drink and a cake gave my table number as I spotted it was empty When I sat down the table was very dirty, was the only one that hadnt been which is fine I thought the lady bringing my order would give it a quick wipe when she saw it. When the tea arrived and the toastie they looked lovely just a shame the server was disinterested and non smiling didnt notice the table was dirty I dont think she really noticed me. The food was lovely the toastie was busting with filling and taste with had a nice side salad. I would have expected a pot of hot water with my tea but I guess I could have asked. After finishing I waited for my cake as I had paid at the till for it. I waited and waited I went to the counter where 1 man was waiting to order only 1 member of staff was right by the till cleaning the table but did not acknowledge either of us until I said could I have my cake. Her attitude to be honest sucked and I felt both myself and the guy waiting at the till were a terrible inconvience to her she didnt smile and wasn't pleasant. My cake was shoved i front of me by the same young woman and I watched as she took the drink outside for the gentlemen and was pulling a face obviously that was inconvienat too. It was such a shame as the first lady server and the food were lovely. I had to knock the atmosphere down for the grumpy servers. Tip to owners hire people who want to work for you not those that give the impression they are serving a prison sentence. Having said that the food was lovely am willing to give it another...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWent as this was recommended. Arrived 2 hours before closing. The staff were mopping the cafe and though I appreciate cleanliness, not at the expense of making your customers feel you are disturbing you. Went to the counter and were told to take a seat. The displays were sparse but we ordered tea and scones for 2 people. The tea arrived with one scone. It was slightly warm and had pots of butter, jam and clotted cream. My sister approached the counter to enquire about the other. This was brought over- cold and with 2 pots, one with about a teaspoon of jam in and the other, with a similar amount of cream . While we were there a lady and her grandson arrived. When she asked if they had a gingerbread man, she replied they hadn't had a delivery. I believed everything was created in house. The scones were ok but the service was awful. I certainty won't be visiting again, especially as it appears it's not in...
Read moreWent for afternoon tea during Easter break. Wednesday afternoon. Although we pre booked. Service was very slow. We had to check twice if they still remembered our order. After 45 minutes we evenually got our afternoon tea served with sandwiches and 2 tier mini cakes. Cakes consisted of brownies, strawberry tarts which were nice but dry scones that were not fresh. It would have been nice if we had our tea served with the cakes/sandwiches but we had to ask for this after assuming drinks would be served with food. Our tea was not served with the cakes and again we had to ask for our drink. When asked at till if eveything was good I did mention delayed service but no response or apology was given. Very disappointing especially after spending £26.00. My friend and I will never be visiting this establishment again. Staff just chatting with their...
