After many wonderful trips to the Glen over the years tonight has completely changed that opinion. I don’t know if it was the new manger we dealt with but he needs to go on a customer service course. Firstly we were approached and asked if we could give up 3! Chairs (which were all taken on our table) for a reservation they had booked in. No please or thanks yous were said it was almost like he expected to give up our seats? We willingly gave up 1 but the member of staff attempted to take 2 and got his back up with us saying no. He then came back 2 minutes later with a tiny stool and asked if we would swap it with a proper chair. Why as paying costumers are we any different to a table that has a reservation and should swap our chairs for stools? Not only that whilst at the bar staff ignored 3 attempts at trying to order and choosing ‘locals’ who were pushing to the front instead. They missed out on 9 paying customer ordering food which we were quite glad about as another customer near the bar said the food they had just eaten was horrid. We took our money else were and had a lovely meal. Dark hair male member of staff sort your customer...
Read moreFamily from Canterbury visiting prompted a nice walk and some food, so we thought we would try The Glenn for the 1st time.
Unfortunately the food being ok couldn't save this place.
We asked for some water which was brought out in a large plastic jug with lots of ice. Once the ice melted and most of the party had drank from it we noticed bits floating around in the water. A closer look showed that it was really bad and dirty to a point of making you feel queasy and even worried that you might actually be ill from it. It was nothing less than disgusting. There was a layer of sludge in the bottom of the jug which would suggest it hadn't been used for drinks for a long time and god knows what it had been used for.
Nothing more than a "oh, sorry about that"
The whole vibe just seemed like it was lacking care and attention from the front of house which really let down the kitchen because in turn, they seemed to be trying hard to provide a good menu.
A couple of younger staff waiting tables were polite and friendly but again let down.
Could be a brilliant place but just doesn't seem like whoever could do that can be...
Read moreVery busy on Easter Sunday as expected but extremely under staffed and seemed to be being run by three girls who couldn’t have been older than 20. One was left by herself behind the bar with at least 10-15 people queuing up and clearly hadn’t had time to wash and glasses between customers. Upon asking her where the rest of her staff were she politely replied that she wasn’t the manager and hadn’t seen him in some time although she thought he was supposed to be behind the bar with her! I asked if she wanted me to get the attention of one of the other girls to give her a hand but it turns out they were only 16 - couldn’t help even if they had the time. Very limited choices and running out of everything. You’d think for bank holiday weekend you’d prepare and stock up but apparently common sense doesn’t apply here! Didn’t even have any straws for the kids drinks! Had booked a table for 15 but the ‘sunday menu’ was so limited we decided to go elsewhere. Used to be a really nice spot but gone downhill since new...
