Visited 29.01.2022, not many dine-in chinese restaurants in Norwich. Large old building, well set out tables and authentic touches like the laisee tree, lions head and the tables and chairs, lanterns suspended from the ceiling. Not overly expensive. Came at 5.30pm although booked a table for 6pm. Telephone orders were flooding in - staff clearly well-trained in this area. We chose the set menu 2. Such big portions, starter platter was delicious as was the duck with pancakes (very generous portion). Got our main courses to take home as toddler was getting a bit tired. Need 1 staff member to wait tables as there were several tables waiting for their food - long wait between courses - partly why we left. Toilet were clean although need a bit of modernising. Have booked to return for CNY when there is a lion dance at 8pm - must book in advance £10 per adult.

Whilst on a trip in the UK, we had to try and indulge in a traditional local Chinese takeout and stumbled across this bustling joint in the small town of Attleborough. I personally didn't enjoy it too much, minimal flavor and pretty greasy so it wasn't my jam or vibe. I got the Ma-Po Tofu which is meant to portray the Sichuan Province, where spicy food is king and the signature spice of the region within China but was totally westernized. The Tofu with beancurd was also incredibly sweet and just not a good time too. I've personally never seen Vegetable Spring Rolls so small, hollow and genuinely feeling sorry for themselves. I love to support local businesses and hate to bash but have to be honest.

I felt I needed to make a review for this restaurant as we had read quite alot of bad reviews before going. Please don’t listen to those bad reviews! This place is lovely and offers amazing Chinese food! The restaurant is really nicely decorated, staff were very friendly. The food was all great and came out piping hot and very quickly. The only thing that would have made it perfect would have been some background music. We really enjoyed our meal here. Thank you very much.

Went to the Royal Garden for a family meal. We've been many times in the past with no issues. This time, the whole experience was poor. We ordered starters, then waited 30 minutes for starters that never arrived. When we asked, they didn't know what had happened to them so we had to order again.

When the starters finally arrived, the order was wrong, and one of the items was cold. Not just lukewarm, but actually stone cold in the middle. The young lad serving us was apologetic, but the older woman who appeared to be in charge was abrasive and rude. We weren't made to feel welcome.

When paying, I mentioned the problems (30-minute wait for food, having to order a course twice, wrong order, cold food). I asked for a reduction in the bill. The older woman refused. Her excuse was that we got our food eventually and that it wasn't just us; other people had to wait as well!

Because of the problems, the whole meal took 2 hours. The young waiter & waitress that served us were great, but the people in charge didn't seem to care that customers were not having a good time. Not once were we asked if we wanted to order more drinks.

Really disappointing. We...

Many years ago we visited this restaurant and it was excellent ,beautifully prepared and cooked .The staff were so efficient and courteous. My husband celebrated his 60th birthday with friends then and we thought it would be nice to celebrate his 75th there. What a change the place was absolutely freezing . The wait for food was slow and didn’t match the previous standard. We had a middle course of duck and pancakes. The duck had obviously been shedded earlier and left under a heater to keep hot so much so it was dried right out ( wood chips) and tasteless .We ordered 12 pancakes and there was plenty of the duck however there was hardly any cucumber and shredded spring onions or sauce which was too thick to spread. None of the staff asked if everything was ok with the food. It appeared they are under staffed and take away orders we’re taking precedent to the detriment of dining guests. We waited a good 25 minutes on finishing this course before a waitress came to ask if we were ready for our main and they really didn’t appear to be happy or customer orientated. Needless to say we will not be...
