Quaint old pub, with Family Values. We were treated with a very nice warm welcome, staff coming and going, but as soon as new people arrived or left the pub, the staff put down their items, to either wish somebody a lovely birthday, orin this case a lovely stay. We were shown to our room for the night, it was beautifully decorated, as you open the door, directly in front was the bathroom, shower over bath, sink toilet, to the left of the front door, 2 nice single beds, My Husband was happy, he's 6ft 3",and his feet were still on the mattress which was a bonus. 😁, small section for making tea/coffee etc... Overall a beautiful little place. As it was a hot afternoon we both sat outside our room drinking a cuppa, whilst waiting for Phils Brother and wife to turn up.. We'd booked ourselves in for dinner at the pub which was dead opposite, so how could you not... The food was out of this world , presented beautifully on the plates, My Brother in law had creamy mushrooms on toast, Sister in law had, white bait, and my Husband Phil had battered camber, I passed on a started, as I wanted afters... The mains turned up all together (which we were all pleased about).. Can't remember what everyone had, but needless to say.. It all went, not a scrap left over for the 3 dogs to have. We retired for the night, and had to be out of the rooms by 10am...we went back to the pub for our free fry up breakfast, and again could NOT fault anything whatsoever... I asked all of the family what marks out of 100would we all give, we all gave 95/100.. It was the whole experience, not just the drive down to it, but everything, plus the fact you're only 6mins from the Norfolk Broads(bonus) If anyone is passing that neck of the woods, call in, even if just for a drink, you'll thank me if you do.. Oh just a little thing, at the time of booking, they will accept dogs, but dogs must be kept on a lead at all times.. Photos are back to front.. First few are of the Norfolk Broads (I piloted the boat, under a bridge, and reversed parked.. Just had to get that in😉😁), then you have The Beautiful Pub, and opposite the pub, are the...
Read moreWithout doubt, top marks to The White Horse Crostwick (NR12 7BD) for environment, friendliness, beer, food, front of house staff as well as back of house staff.
This year our ventures took us into Norfolk, staying in Coltishall.
You know what it’s like going to a new area for a week’s holiday – where can I eat?, is the Pub environment good or is it shabby?, is the beer good?, is the food good?, are the staff friendly?, etc..
Well, we can only answer YES to all of the above points at The White Horse Crostwick, which shines above many others.
We booked online a few days before our ventures started, and were pleasantly greeted by staff on arrival, in fact, throughout our first dining experience here, the staff were friendly and attentive, but not in your face.
There was a good choice of beers which were well kept and the food was served in generous portions, well cooked, in reasonable time, piping hot, quality produce and at a reasonable price - nothing short of Excellent.
The whole White Horse Crostwick experience was so good we ate there 5 evenings out of our six days holiday, you don’t do that if all the boxes aren’t ticked.
The Beef N Guinness pie was spot on, it was warming to be served Gammon that was quality as well as not over salt, we thoroughly enjoyed the variation of a large Yorkshire Pudding with sausages, peas, gravy and chips (mash also an option), the Classic Beef Burger with cheese, bacon and chips went down a treat, and finally, the Fillet Steak (my speciality) was quality in itself, in flavour, meat texture as well as being cooked to perfection
Congratulations and sincere thanks to Lucy (plus Elvis) and everybody at The White Horse Crostwick for providing a quality eating (and drinking) experience, you’re all appreciated.
Booking would be...
Read moreI'll start by saying that the food was fine, I really can't complain in that regard and under normal circumstances or at a different time of year this may have been a much more positive review.
Upon entry it quickly became apparent that the place had a lot of flies inside with many crawling about on the ceiling and several flying around, when the food arrived the flies immediately started buzzing around us trying to land on our food. It practically felt like I had to stop eating every 5 seconds to waft off a fly or two just to stop them landing on my food.
Next up is the protective measures for Covid-19, frankly there really didn't seem to be many at all.. outside was a hand sanitiser pump however none of the staff were wearing a face shield which seems to be pretty standard in other places right now, staff would lean across tables to put down the food and still would not be wearing a mask despite the distance being significantly below 2m, there was tape on the floor to try and show where people should stand for social distancing yet a large amount of people were allowed in and as such no social distancing was maintained. When we left the only exit involved having to walk between the already overcrowded queueing area which meant basically brushing shoulders with other customers. Finally though tables were sanitised after other customers left we noticed that the chairs were not sanitised.
If we were not in the midst of a global pandemic then I would definitely be more willing to recommend this place based on the quality of the food, however right now I can only describe the experience as disappointing...
