We were in the area and was in need of a spot of dinner , found this place on Google was only 5 minutes away from our location so we popped . 👍 I have to say it was Probably one of the best pub meals we've had out in a long time !! Pubs can be so hot and miss but I think we will tray this place out again for sure !
The menu was appealing with plenty of seasonal ingredients , which is nice to see. We sat in the bar area that was nice and relaxed , it was much quieter than the restaurant area . Which seamed full on our arrival.. we didn't book but that fit us in. 👍 Our waitress was polite and smiley we ordered drinks , that were promptly served . I ordered the venison , which was fab . Beautifully cooked Loin ,With a homemade haunch pie (very tasty ,nice pastry) served with shredded sprouts and bacon . Simple and tasty great fresh ingredients let shine with some very good cooking. well recommended! My wife's pork dish was also fabulous. Tender pork cheek, slow cooked pork belly and the bubble and squeak was wonderful I had to try it twice, lol, both were well cooked and very nicely presented plates of food , my daughter had a simple sausage and chips it was just what she fancied. She Wolfed it down .. good quality sausages , chunky chips must say it was served with a really nice pot of jus on the side ..top marks for that! My sister had the chicken roulade which was again well presented , chicken was moist wrapped in prosciutto The dauphinoise was well executed with plenty of layers perfect amount of cream and a nice touch of parmesan. We all opted for dessert which were also very nice , Nicely presented .
All in all a great meal .. Will return! Not cheap but yet not overpriced . The quality of the cooking and ingredients made you feel that you were happy to pay the £26 for the dish! Nice to see a country pub doing well !

Read moreI enjoyed eating lunch at the Ewe and Lamb for my birthday. The food was of good quality and it was delivered promptly to our table. The pub was busy which suggested that they must be doing something right. I liked the range of dishes on the menu. I was torn between the belly pork and the sea bass. I eventually decided to go with the seafood and I had calimari for starter and sea bass for my main. I thought that the waitress was really nice but I asked her where the fish was sourced and she told me she thought that the fish came from Birmingham. I wasn’t aware that there were any sea bass fisheries in Birmingham. I appreciate that she tried to answer my question but a little more product knowledge from the staff would be appreciated. On the other hand they are doing well to offer fish like sea bass in this part of the country as it must be fairly difficult to source in the West Midlands. I definitely enjoyed eating seafood and it made me feel like I was still on holiday. The pub was really busy which was great for their business but made me feel as though I should have booked a little later in the afternoon as I felt like I was getting a bit of a headache from all of the noise. My mother didn’t seem to notice this as much so maybe I am just particularly sensitive to this kind of thing. The level of custom didn’t affect the service. The food was brought out quickly and the staff didn’t seem too stressed which reflects really well on the pub. I would definitely like to come back to the “Ewie”. I think that they are doing a really good job with this pub. The food is all tasty and nutritious. I thought that the set menu was good value and the range of options...
Read moreVisited as part of a family group on the word of one of the family members - I cannot begin to tell you how impressed I was with this establishment. It was clean, tidy, and laid out really well - not to close to anyone but not far enough away to be isolated. The service was superb from the moment we walked through the door to the moment we walked out again. Staff were patient, well dressed, polite, and helpful - a credit to themselves and their management.
And then the food.. this is obviously why you go here, and why it gets the reviews it does. My God the food is incredible. No other way of putting it. Lets gets the boring bits out of the way - portion sizes were spot on. The presentation of the food was highly professional. It looked stunning. But then you taste it and you realise just how nailed on it is.
I took a chance on a Katsu Mushroom Curry - never tried this style of curry before, but in for a penny in for £15. The flavour of the sauce is immediate, with a follow through. It was served with a pickled carrot and nut slaw, little pickled onions and some fried broccoli with some coriander rice on the side. Everything balanced, everything worked - if anything the rice could have been a little stronger but it all just worked so well together. The Kitchen Team are clearly talented and knowledgeable.
Everyone around our table had nothing but compliments about the food, and between us we tried a good cross section of the starters and main menu with lots of compliments flying across the table.
Everyone at this venue should be proud of what they have created and I sincerely hope you continue to do so for...
