Watch where you book Christmas dinner. Our Christmas totally ruined!! 18 of us and not one person ate there dinner. After arrival it took a hour and half for starter then another hour for dinner which no one ate as it was dry, stone cold left overs !!! Nearly £600 down the swanny and not one person managed to enjoy themselves 😔 the one year I chose to not cook and was actually looking forward to being heavily pregnant to sitting around crying wanting to go home. It was ment to be special with all my special people but they just ruined it for every single person!! Seems that people who work there that was also having dinner got treated better than guests!

This isn't the only thing... They didn't have a clue what people's orders were, my mom wanted stuffed mushroom and they didn't have any left even tho it was ordered ages ago! We booked for 3.30 slot but I found out 2 days ago they accidentally booked us for 12.30 so we all had to change our day about. Nothing but unprofessional from the start and I should of realised 😭😭

Had to wait around for cutlery after asking, just a utter joke.

After living in Charford for 9 years my wife and I decided to venture to our local for a roast. Our table was at 1:00 and I had basically already pre ordered the evening before so anticipated our turkey roast to be tip top but "oh my" what a disappointment. Turkey was basically 3 wafer slices from a pre packet for sandwiches. Roasters were air fried rubbish. Cranberry sauce was red cabbage. Carrots were inedible because they were that hard you couldn't get your fork in them. Instant mash spud which hadn't been mixed properly and served by hand as it looked like it had finger mark indentation s in it which filled with gravy. The yorkie pud was dry, tasteless and like card board. Oh and to top it off 1 floret of colly and 1 of Brocolli. Gray wasn't too bad. I can honestly say it was the quickest pint and Sunday roast in a pub I have ever had and we have had many. I'm sorry I couldn't complain on the day but we just had to get out as we felt embarrassed for the gaffer . They really need to think about producing a decent roast before advertising it. Very...

Haven’t been into the golden for a long time as it’s been run down and it’s always looked like it’s closed but heard that the new landlord was taking over and had to pop in as I don’t live far from the lion, I’ve got to say the pub is so much cleaner you don’t stick to the floors or bar anymore, there is so much product in the fridges to choose from and the draft beer tastes so much better I don’t get a bad belly. the whole pub just looks fresh and smells clean, I was talking to the gavin and Michael and they have said there is a brand new kitchen going into the pub and they will be doing Marston’s food which I said I will be back to give the food ago when it is up and running but I’ll be back before that anyway for my weekly drinks with my friends, sim told me that they had only been here a week and what a change in a week well done to you all it looks like the golden lion is back from the died.
