Subject: An Utter Revelation – Five Stars from the Pendarvises Dear Miller & Carter Marlbrook, We must admit, when we pulled up in the Rolls (Gerald stayed with the car, naturally—he’s the driver, not a dinner guest), we weren’t expecting much. We’d heard whispers of a “luxury steakhouse chain,” and thought, how charmingly ambitious. From our Surrey estate, we’re rather more accustomed to truffle tasting menus and dishes that look like abstract art. And yet… here we are. Utterly amazed. From the moment we walked in, everything simply sang. The atmosphere was elegant without trying too hard, the lighting flattering (thank you), and the staff—well, we could’ve hugged them. So attentive, so genuinely warm, and not a single “Is everything alright with your meal?” shouted across the table. Heavenly. Now, the steaks. Oh, the steaks. Cooked with such precision, such confidence—it was like dining with a chef who actually knows the cow personally. I was transported. And then came the lettuce wedge, placed lovingly in its own little bowl, with a sauce nestled beside it. We laughed at first—adorable! But then we tasted it and fell slightly in love. Deborah, of course, is firmly anti-carb and took only the steak and lettuce (no sauce, obviously), but was happily sipping away on the house's finest fizz. And dare we say—it held its own. We didn’t expect that. We genuinely thought we’d hate the whole affair, but somehow you had us grinning before the first bite. We’ve already told our friends at the country club that they must experience this delightful little miracle for themselves. You’ve taken a concept we usually roll our eyes at and made it feel… dare we say… a bit fabulous. We’ll be back. Gerald knows...
Read moreThis was one of our more favoured M & C branches so the wife chose it for her last birthday night celebration. However a year later and it was looking a bit tired. The room was full of children and it felt a bit like a crèche. Any chance of a romantic night out was out of the window. It's a pity that they couldn't find an area just for them. The menu has changed a bit and not for the better. I also noticed the calorific value of some of the meals, ouch! There were 3 of us and unsurprisingly it was steaks for two but I went for the feta and spinach pie. The service was very good, much better than the last time, very friendly and on the ball but it wasn't full on our Sunday night. The meal didn't start well, we had to send one lettuce wedge back as it was very brown around the edges. How does that happen? The fillet steaks were very good and 6 no complaints at all but I would have liked a bit more feta in my pie nor could I taste the lemon and garlic. The drinks were very good though albeit a bit pricey. Unusually the wife had a creme brulee but it lacked a crisp top and the frozen raspberries were mushy and tasteless. Overall not quite the experience that I...
Read moreAbsolutely beautiful place. Went there for my birthday lunch today and was given wonderful service from the lovely Becki from the moment we sat down until the moment we left. The food was absolutely incredible. Myself and my husband shared the butchers block, which is 3 types of steak with ribs. Absolutely stunning and cooked to perfection. Sides were beautiful too. We couldn't fault a thing about it. And the cocktails... 🍹🤤 It was my birthday so I had to try them, but seeing as it was only 1pm, I just had the 4! They looked and tasted absolutely amazing. The only thing that I didn't like was the paper straws as they went soggy and closed up so I got through a few of those. I completely understand the reasons for moving from plastic straws, but there are now lots of compostable and biodegradable alternatives out there, which would've been a lot handier and nicer to drink from than paper. Nevertheless, this was by far the best meal I've ever eaten and the best dining experience I've ever had at a restaurant, without a doubt. I can't stop thinking about it and am actually tempted to go back for my tea! Definitely booking our anniversary meal there. I can't...
