Ok, dont get excited by the signs saying amazing home-cooked meals. Upon entering I was met with a gaggle of teenage Black clad serving staff, who have as much interest in service as in a Cliff Richards eight track. It’s confused and chaotic with so many of them milling about, Without focus or leadership. I came for Sunday lunch to an empty restaurant two tables and was asked if I booked a table. I was shown to a table for one, with a point of the finger rather than a guiding caring Service. I sat at this table scrunched, with Central legs that hit you all in the wrong places with your feet, at a table that was stickier than a child’s lollipop. Having decided that I probably be better off sitting outside, in the empty beer garden, I was met with tables with pigeon feathers and pigeon poo on the chairs. Surrounded by a group of flies, that as it transpired Had more interesting in eating the food than I did.

So we get to this amazing home-cooked food, I ordered the Haddock poached and here is where the Whole thing unravels The poached Haddock, felt as if he had been boiled to it submitted to inhumane torture. It was rubbery tough and without seasoning. It was also floating in water and the bottom of my plate was like a little paddling pool perhaps the fish hoped to survive and swim away..

Alas the three new potatoes that accompanied this dish were hard and Barely cooked, one of them even had the soil that it was grown in as an extra additive to the meal. The vegetable accompaniment was frozen peas and I had never thought it was possible to make frozen peas hard but this chef managed bravo. . As an accompaniment to the Fish was a sauce, what type of sauce? It was? I have not a clue. It was bland tasteless and watery. When I poured over the poor fish I just knew the whole thing was a pointless mess. I asked the girl how is such a beautiful place on a Sunday lunch and of course now I realise, this is probably the place you go to drink more than eat and the empty outside was probably even telling of that being not a success.

I managed to chew my way through the fish, but could not palate the undercooked unseasoned vegetables.

Overall paying £15.95 for a nice piece of fish to be tortured set in an eighth of an inch of water , with three new potatoes and some frozen peas and a surprise sauce because goodness knows what it was it was advertised as parsley sauce but it was canary yellow. I had hoped it would’ve been saffron sauce, because at least that would’ve shown the chef had some imagination. However, this is a place rather to avoid to eat in at least , along with the poor untrained unfocused disinterested staff it doesn’t make a good...

Went for a meal on a Sunday evening. Nice table in the window. Ordered the food at the bar, no problem. I had steak and stilton pie. When the pie arrived it was so dry you could not eat it. At no point during the meal did any member of staff come and ask if everything was OK. When they come to collect the plates later still no question even though the pie had hardly been touched. When I went to pay the bill i mentioned about not being asked about the food and was told. Once you have started your food nothing can be done about it. ( how do you know if the food is any good till you try it) The next bit is the best. I was then told that lots of people like the food so if you don't go somewhere else. I then asked to speak to the manager only to be told by the young man i was talking to that he is the manager. If that is the way they treat customers it does not look good for the pub. It is a shame because it is a nice pub but living on past reputation. I did try to contact the owner but was told by the manager that he was not able on...

The place has lovely ambiance staff is good but we entered in afternoon barely there was one table we ordered gammon steak and peppercorn chicken The gammon steak was very very salty had it felt like they soaked and marinated the steak with only salt nothing else and chips not even cooked properly in the gammon steak only salt rest all there is no salt at all in anything worst food I ever had the pepper corn chicken was alright ,when we called the waiter and said the gammon steak was not eatable too salty he didn't bothered and rude . When I had bite of steak and called the waiter it's not good he was like just okay I asked him to talk to the chef and I try to make it better he was like if I replace you have to pay another steak price paying extra or paying for food it's not the matter ,the thing you charged 14:50 ,that was not good ,you shld have minimum hospitality etiquette to solve the the issue but you guys failed , Really...

Traditional English pub with large car park and garden area with outdoor seating Great selection of draught beers including moretti as well as the usual Carling. Also some draught bitters. Love the fish and chips here as the batter is always crispy and lovely mushy peas too. My friend chose the salmon and new potatoes. Quite a few specials on the board too. Good friendly service too.

If you like cheap pub chain food this is not the place for you! The food at the queen's head is reasonable priced and very good. I had the prawn baguette with chips and salad, at lunchtime, which was lovely. Nice cosy pub with friendly helpful staff and covid measures in place. It's a popular place so I'd recommend that you book a table. You get what you pay for.
