My visit to The Swan and Cemetery was nothing short of delightful. This charming establishment is truly a standout on Manchester Road in Bury. From the moment you walk in, you are greeted with a warm, friendly atmosphere that makes you feel right at home.
The menu offers a fantastic variety of dishes, all cooked to perfection using locally sourced produce. On my visit, I tried the vegetarian fish and chips—battered halloumi with chips and mushy peas—and it was exquisite. The batter was light and crispy, perfectly complementing the rich, savory halloumi. The menu caters well to dietary restrictions, and the chef is very accommodating, even offering a variety of gluten-free options if you call ahead.
The ambiance of the restaurant is cozy and inviting, with a tastefully decorated dining area that enhances the overall dining experience. Whether you’re sitting indoors or enjoying the outdoor seating area surrounded by their newly-planted wildflower garden, the environment is always pleasant and relaxing.
Service at The Swan and Cemetery is impeccable. The staff are attentive and knowledgeable, always ensuring that your dining experience is top-notch. Whether you’re there for a casual meal or a special occasion, they go above and beyond to make sure every visit is memorable.
Their Sunday roasts are particularly noteworthy, a local favorite that draws crowds week after week. Be sure to book in advance to avoid disappointment.
For those looking to unwind with a drink, their selection of wines, ales, and other beverages is impressive and caters to all tastes. The full bar and moderate noise level make it a great place for gatherings and celebrations.
Parking is ample and convenient, making it easy to visit at any time. Overall, The Swan and Cemetery is a must-visit in Bury, offering an unparalleled dining experience that combines excellent food, a warm atmosphere, and exceptional service. Shaun...
Read moreThe worst experience in a restaurant ever! After looking forward to a Friday meal all week, we visited the Swan & Cemetery for something to eat. The food took close to half an hour to arrive, I had to ask a member of the bar staff to check on the food, even though the place was not busy when we visited.
After having eaten the food I picked the salt up to move it out of my way on the table when I noticed something strange, I looked at the salt closely and to my horror there was two black ants. We had used this salt on our food.
I then took the salt to the bar and told a member of staff, they took the salt and replaced it however we had already finished eating. After complaining that we had just finished and are unhappy that we had just eaten food with salt containing ants, the staff were sarcastic and did not seem to care in the slightest. We were told that we should have checked the salt for ants before eating, so this is the norm to check salt for insects whenever you go to a restaurant now? Absolutely ridiculous, a waste of £20 with no refunds, when we questioned why they thought it's okay if we get food posioning then, the member of staff sarcastically said "How can that give you food poisoning?" and walked off.
Furthermore, we asked for the manager and someone came that is clearly not the manager as they were rude and sarcastic, on the phone later we were told the manager isn't in.
After having been here several times before, one of the only times we've complained, the service is unacceptable. Obviously, loyalty means nothing to them, we shall not be returning, avoid...
Read moreDisgusting service from the Landlord and his son, spoiling Christmas day for the family's of their customers who paid £80 per head to be shouted at and offered outside in the car park from the Landlord and his son for their inept service and organisation on the day. Both a joke with little man syndrome. The way he spoke to his customers was awful and he made no attempt to apologize for his or his sons dreadful service and behaviour and this from supposedly one of the best pubs in Bury what a joke. We went in on Christmas day after a bad experience in summer when family came over to see if it may have been a one off. But again dreadful service in Summer the Landlords son served all his friends first instead of other customers who were clearly waiting a lot longer than his friends when I mentioned this his son said if you don't like it drink somewhere else so we did 35 of us went down to the White Boar to eat and have a great day even though this pub was also busy we had great service and a great day. I will never go back or recommend the Swan And Cemetery to anyone not even to have a pee let alone a drink or food. Not unless it changes Landlords and the son no longer works there the pair of...
