Hmmm, was torn between a 3 and 4 star.... was messy with huge clods of food on the floor, bit chimps' tea party-esque. Decided to be kind and err to a 4 star as twas a nice day and they'd probably been busy. Note that though they may be open til 4.30pm and 5pm, their kitchens close about 3pm, so you can't purchase any hot food or even sandwiches after 3. There were some small scones left, but at nearly £4 each, promptly replaced as too expensive. Big mug of tea though that was nice. Whilst Shibden Hall have Yorkshire Tea, here at this café it is Tetley's - not a patch on Yorkshire, so I had a green tea instead. Large, lofty and spacious inside with plenty of outdoor seating and good views of the Mere and parkland. If you are after hot food, go before 3pm.

Admittedly I hadn't been to Shibden Park in about 30 years, so it was nice to call in here for breakfast on our bank holiday weekend visit to my homeland. My partner had the large breakfast, which for the price was excellent. Lovely hashbrown! My teen daughter had the medium and I had a bagel and creme cheese. We have cappuccinos and an English tea. Plenty of seating outside and in, dog friendly both inside and out too. I am pleased I got to experience the cafe and park again in a less busy climate. Beautiful place full of memories ✨️

I wanted to write a review on this place because I'd read a couple bad reviews and... I don't understand how you could rate this place low! This place is great, great location, the scones are TO DIE FOR and the rest of the food was lovely, hearty portions. I would recommend this place to anyone, we had the burger and the savoury tart— we were not disappointed. Definately plan to return at some point.

I wouldn’t recommend this place at all. The staff are so rude, they stand there talking about you so you can hear, when ordering the food/drinks they don’t pay attention and are talking to other members of staff. It’s very very overpriced for a cafe, for two cokes it’s £5.50, me and my dad ordered a panini and chips each, they gave us about 5 burnt chips and the paninis soggy and the cheese tasted gone off, so we complained and they said they couldn’t do anything about it and offered me some crisps and a drink even though my food came to £16 bear in mind we only ordered 2 paninis and chips. Both sections of the cafe weren’t very clean, bits of food on the floor and chairs all over the place. The manager was very stuck up when i asked for a replacement of my food and walked away. All together it was overpriced, not clean, rude staff and not a good business. The staff didn’t have a clue what there were doing, tables weren’t cleaned place looked like it hadn’t been cleaned in a while. The toilets were a right mess, when i asked them to put some toilet paper they walked straight past me, then i went back to sit down so they brought over a toilet roll and slammed it...

When you search this cafe on Google it informs you it is open until 4pm, which it is but it stops serving food at 3pm. When we arrived at 3.05pm we were told we could just have cake, we found this disappointing and asked that the update their information to show this as we had been sent down by Shibden Hall staff. We sat down with scones and drinks the gentleman making the coffees came over with his phone to show us where it showed the serving times on their website, it was strange and intimidating. When we were leaving there was a new lady behind the counter so I asked for a number to complain about his behaviour. She gave me one and told me who to ask for and he started shouting across the cafe to my sister that we were rude. It would have been funny if it wasn't so strange. This is a tourist attraction and we were made it feel so unwelcome by that gentleman, unfortunately they have a monopoly. It is a shame as the Christmas Fair was on, the land train was running, it should have been a pleasant day and they could have taken advantage of this and...

Once again the member of staff didn't listen to the order, my partner ordered, two white toast with two fried eggs and two sausages twice, explaining that meant two plates with the same on both plates, only one plate of food arrived. When we asked where the second plate was, my goodness what a performance of checking the till receipt, then two assistants coming to tell us, as we had only paid £13 we should have realised that wasn't enough for what we had ordered, NO we are the customers and trust the assistant to be able to listen and do her job properly, we always have to ask for extra hot, and strong coffee for our latte otherwise it comes like lukewarm milk. Our last visit I wanted brown toast with eggs and sausage my partner white toast with scrambled eggs, guess what scrambled eggs came on the brown toast. I am afraid that we will not be visiting again. As I used to be a Catering Manager and a Mystery Shopper I find the situation very annoying and...
