This place is something special.
We stumbled across it whilst taking the scenic route home from a trip. The actual building is a bit unassuming from the outside, but the pub does feature a car park and small outside seating area.
Inside, the pub is fantastic. Incredibly warm and cosy. Fantastic old features. We were greeted by friendly staff, who directed us to a table.
The pub is linked to Timothy Taylor’s brewery, so has some fantastic beer on offer.
More impressive is the menu. This pub offers a wide range of food for a venue which is relatively small. Starters of prawn cocktail and chicken liver pâte were exceptional. Really simple, but done so well.
We attended on a Sunday so tried the Beef Brisket Sunday roast, with a side of cauliflower cheese. Again, phenomenal. Each individual part was cooked perfectly. The taste of everything, from the mash potatoes, to the buttery soft brisket was genuinely outstanding.

The young girl serving us was very chirpy and polite, a great asset to the pub. If you are going to eat at Dinner rather than lunch, it's best that you book - it fills up quick!
Also, the pub does have a car park but it's aprox 50 meters before the pub (If you're coming from Tod) so make sure you...
Read moreWent here yesterday. Sometime back in November/ December 2019! The surrounding were cosy and the food was awesome! I had a roast pork dinner and my partner and her brother had roast beef. His partner had the vegetarian pie. Our food was lush. The mashed potatoes were amazing. For pudding I had the cornflake tart with custard. Absolutely melt in the mouth delicious. Very reasonably priced too! The staff were friendly and their was a good choice of ales. 10/10 and to quote the Terminator ‘I’ll Be BACK! Thank you. So, two years later….. on Sunday 28th November 2021 we managed to get back here! Awesome beef roast dinner, a couple….. ok, three pints of Boltmaker and a lovely Cornflake pud with loadsa custard. Really really lovely staff and surroundings. It is a lovely welcoming pub in every way possible. Hopefully be back sooner than last...
