This place wouldn't have been everyone's cup of tea. If you want plush, modern decor and impersonal service, then it's not for you. But this pub/restaurant is run along traditional lines. The decor is eclectic 1970s but that actually makes it cosier and puts you at ease. From my phone call to confirm my email booking to the warm and efficient welcome at the bar, to the service at the table, it was impeccable. Terence (owner) answered my phone call and sorted me out at 8.45 am on Saturday morning when he'd been up the night before running a birthday party till 3am. Fantastic! Now let me tell you about the food. There's an extensive menu if quality dishes at reasonable prices maybe £3 cheaper than a lot of pubs. We shared a chicken liver starter that was enough for two. I had fish pie, packed with a variety of succulent fish and topped with a cheesy potato topping with mangetout side dish. My husband had a burger and they replaced the normal chips with sweet potato fries for him. The beer was good and there was a super live band on. Lots of families with young children in there. A great place with heart ❤️

My parents visit here often and this weekend they took my partner and I for Sunday lunch. The welcome and service is exceptional, we felt like regulars the second we arrives and were seated In a beautifully decorated area by an open fire whilst we browsed the menu and had a drink. The range of food is fantastic and they were happy to cater for some special requests which was much appreciated. They also note that they're happy to discuss allergies and intolerances. Food was served In a cute little dining area that had great character- and everyone's food was excellent. We ordered from the traditional Sunday roast selection, plus starters and a main course wrap. Everything was beautifully presented and tasted wonderful. Things to note - steep steps from the entrance at the back so call ahead if you will struggle with stairs. The pub itself is dog friendly, there's also a small outside seating area and plenty parking.

We spent a long time round Halifax looking for dog friendly pub and really struggled then we stumbled across this place just outside of Halifax that could not of been better. Lovely hot fire and great food. Really homely and friendly staff. Only things to note when visiting, the steps from the car park into the pub are very steep, the baby change is a window sill and only in the ladies toilet (21st century now guys, dad's change nappies) and you have to pay at the end of the bar which can be a bit chaotic. Other than these issues it's a great place !!! Would definitely recommend and can't wait to visit again.

Came here after my neighbour recommended it. Have to say how fabulous the food is and the portions are generous. The staff are attentive, polite and helpful. The beer was spot on and so was the price. I'll be back here again soon for sure. 😁 Update. Wow, what an unexpected change. Paid an impromptu visit today hoping to have some food and asked if I could have a table for 4. A stern "we're fully booked" reply from the bar man was a surprise given that only 2 tables were being utilised. I double checked 5 mins later after noticing the tables had "booked from" times on them which were 2 3/4 hours from when I asked. Again I was told that "we're fully booked". I ordered a drink, spent an hour there and I counted at least a dozen empty tables, half of which had reservations 2 3/4 hours after my arrival. What a massive disappointment. Certainly won't be recommending this...
