This cafe has really gone downhill. Food prices have got very high. £2.50 for a small coffee is just silly. Sometimes the cafe is very cold and the heaters are not on. In the back room the doors to rooms where the freezers are often are left open - I have just had a meal looking at a mop and bucket in the freezer room with its door open. I tried to shut the door myself; I know why it's always open the catch does not hold the door closed so it just flies open when somebody's been in there. Staff are certainly not as friendly as the used to be. There always seems to be a new person learning the job there. They don't listen to you when you make an order so they often get it wrong. Last time we went they got four things that we asked for wrong. The food, when you eventually get it it, is very nice but the atmosphere has gone downhill since the garden centre took over the cafe once more. Yes the carpet has been cleaned or replaced but the whole atmosphere is dreary. It used to be a nice place to sit down and enjoy your meal and I wonder now whether it's at all worth going. I used to go regularly and have meals there but really now can't afford it and I don't have to put up with the staff not listening when I order things. This is not a grudge review it is an honest review from a person who wishes that this cafe was like it used to be before the garden centre took over running it. They management of the garden centre need to put a lot of effort into making this cafe like...
Read moreUp until today we loved this place! My sin of 3 year old developed a developmental stammer and as with all stammer's it means words are often repeated several times and often loudly from frustration of not being able to get words out. Today he was asking his dad to lift him onto counter saying ' I want, I want, I want....before finally getting it out I want to come up'. As my hubby and son moved away from counter I heard a member of staff in the kitchen area mimic (yes mimic) my son by repeating 'I want I want, I want' to other staff members in the kitchen. THIS IS DISGUSTING AND SO INSENSITIVE AS WELL AS UNPRIFESDIONAL. you ought to be ashamed you did this! My sin at 3 battles frustration already and often gets upset because he can't get his words out the first time, and it's something we hope he will outgrow it. BUT (and it's a big but) insensitive people like you don't help situations and I'm just glad he's not at an age where he can fully understand what you just did! I hope whichever one of you it was, you don't find yourself in the same situation!
P.s. to the last who wished again to be unprofessional speaking to us as customers like rubbish regarding some waste.....FYI the sack of rubbish was placed in the waste bin, where rubbish was supposed to go and NOT on the floor like you said. My husband was not aware of any skip and would have used thus if so. However, a bin was used so I can't see what...
Read moreWhat a lovely treat to visit a wonderful little cafe after a trip around an equally lovely and very friendly garden centre. The cafe is full of warmth and I love the new decor, the staff are friendly. I’ve seen other negative reviews and I completely disagree. I also sometimes sit in the back room, I politely asked one of the staff to close the staff room door and it’s closed immediately without fuss. The staff can’t do enough for you, politeness goes a long way in my eyes! The prices of food and drinks are actually less than some of the comparable cafes situated in both Brighouse and Hipperholme. The food is always really good and piping hot (unless you’re having a cold meal), there’s always plenty on your plate and service is always with a smile! It has such a lovely atmosphere and I’m always made to feel welcome on each and every visit. I always go home full and happy. Well done to you all and keep doing what...
