Having to edit a previous positive review from 10 months ago due to the absolutely appalling customer service from this hotel. Booked several rooms for guests at my wedding 14/08/24, weeks had a meal here the night before and spent in excess of £500. On the day of my wedding one of the guests arrived at the hotel after the ceremony to check in and were given keys to someone else’s room. When they returned to reception they were told that I’d cancelled their room and there was no space left and turned away. I had to get our wedding coordinator to phone up to sort out and she was told the same and that we wouldn’t receive a refund because we’d not paid for it. My friends ended up not being able to drink at our wedding and drove all the way back to Manchester despite paying for a room at The Malthouse and paying for a babysitter. I paid £175 for two rooms as shown in the photos. My mother went in to the hotel the following day to resolve and was told “take it up with booking.com”. After months of going back and forth with booking.com and this hotel, the hotel have now stopped answering my emails. I have provided proof that I paid for 2 rooms so the hotel have either pocketed the money and don’t want to refund OR they think it’s acceptable that one of their customers does all the leg work chasing up booking.com rather than themselves. It’s been an utter joke. The worst show of customer service I’ve ever witnessed. Avoid...
Read moreMe and my friend called in for Sunday dinner a few weeks ago. There was a lot of choice on the menu. We had the squid and the chicken skewers to start with. For the price of around £7 these were very expensive starters and the chicken was minimal. There was hardly anything there and although the squid was nice the starters are really not worth the money . Starters prices ranged from £6 for soup and £10 for Tempura prawns. ||The main roast dinner was nice although the Yorkshire puddings were very dark and overcooked. The turkey was really tender and cut thick and the vegetables tasted good though. ||Dessert prices were £7 a dish and we just had one portion of cheesecake. Again the portion size in relation to the price charged was not good. ||The meal without drinks was £57 which we think is really expensive for a Sunday lunch. With drinks you are looking at probably 80 to 90 pounds for two people. You don’t mind paying for nice food but the starters and desserts are really not worth the money. There were several wet dogs that passed through the bar and main dining room into the back area and although we aren’t against dogs, it wasn’t a pleasant experience. Im sad to say that I don’t think we would come back for the Sunday lunch as it was...
Read moreWe visited the malt house on mother's day and my wife visited again this evening for her birthday. and I can only describe the food as appalling. my wife eats vegetables only vegetables she was served raw green beans raw kale and stam broccoli all were frozen 2 new cold potatoes and carrots that were most definitely bad and had black mold on the inside of the carrots I politely pointed this out to the server. who insisted I was incorrect the carrots were fresh and that they had simply not cut the root off they smelt dreadful. Were black and very wrinkly assure sign they were old and unfit for human consumption. the black mold had traveled up the in side of the Carrott. So I responded in a was I never do I told them I was a very successful chef of 50 years recently retired. and recognised unfit vegetables when I saw them. finally the food was a disgrace the server response unacceptable I am not a regular serial complainer. and this experance is 1 of only2 on line complaints I've ever made. You decide for yourselves if our dreadful experance is of value to you. In choosing where you choose to dine here best of...
