It’s a shame that I feel I have to write this review but I can’t believe that a person can go into an establishment that is supposed to welcome the public but find the managers have absolutely no personality whatsoever. I’m a local person and use this pub regularly and also the pub around the corner. The food here I’m told is really good but I’m yet to try it as there is absolutely no welcome. The reception is just a grunt even if you are very polite and engaging there’s very little in return. When you leave you get up and bring the empty glasses to the bar and say thankyou and goodbye and there is no response. It’s very strange that people with absolutely no personality would choose a profession in hospitality that are quite frankly rude. As I said I also use the pub around the corner and the people who run the place and all the staff are engaging and polite and can actually hold a conversation and make you feel very welcome which makes you want to return. Politeness costs nothing but is priceless. I hope the Winterburn does well but I also hope the people who run it find...
Read moreFood was really nice at a reasonable price. On a Sunday you are able to choose from set menu or main menu which is great. Chose small roast from set menu, risotto and also duck breast from main menu. All really tasty. Staff were really inattentive however and I spent my mealtime eating with my right elbow leaning on a windowsill due to the seating arrangements. We were a party of 3 put on a table for 6. If there were 6 of us we'd have really struggled and we are not fatties. Radiator under table was hanging off the wall too and fell on our legs when we moved the chairs to sit down. One of us had a crumble as a dessert. It was dangerously hot, had to decant it onto a plate to eat and cool properly. Real shame as food is great but would give the place a great swerve next time due to the...
Read moreWe have stopped off for a pint during our hike with the dogs over the Easter Weekend. The staff were super attentive and really welcoming to us and our fur babies 🐾 so we decided to book and have dinner the following evening. We were told we could bring the dogs as well into the bar area for dinner and they can have a doggy dinner! We'll this obviously went down well with not just us but BOTH dogs 😋 .... if I am honest I would of even the doggy dinner myself it looked that good. Myself and my partner had the Sunday Roast ourselves and it did not disappoint! So tasty and delicious Gravy! Hats off to the chef and of course the amazing staff! We will be back! It's not our local area but we house swap with my sister so this will certainly become our regular when visiting! Well worth a visit!...
