Used to be a perfect option for our go to halal burgers in Cambridge, but our most recent order was clearly lacking in portion sizes and quality. Charging the same prices but heavily reducing the portions is really sad to see.
Every single one of us were left hungry after ordering £100 worth of food, multiple burgers and loaded fries boxes. The loaded fries portions have 100% been reduced in portion size, feels like a huge 50% reduction. We usually have boxes leftover enough for the next day or to share with others. That wasn’t the case yesterday. 2 of us got through each of them like it was nothing.
Our burgers were also INSANELY thin in terms of the individual beef patties. Like literal paper thin patties being advertised as “2 patties” well no, it’s literally 1 patty that looks like it’s been cut in half and further squashed down. Not to be dramatic but I make smash burgers myself all the time and I’ve eaten in majority of the top spot in London. These are so thin!
I really don’t take pleasure in leaving this review, myself and my family really loved this spot leading up to this but severely cutting the portions like this is so disappointing. Just to be clear the food itself is absolutely 10/10 in terms of flavour and quality of ingredients. But the pricing and portions is what you go for as well… what’s the point in ordering meals if they don’t fill you up? Please go back to your previous portions and consider “beefing” up the smash burgers cos they are ridiculously...

What’s Great
Smash Burgers Done Right Grill Plug’s smash burgers are frequently praised as some of the best in Cambridge. The beef patties are juicy, tender, with good flavour, and the texture is excellent.
The buns manage to stay together even after traveling, which is a sign of quality.
Variety & Innovation Their menu has expanded, so there’s more than just a basic burger. Examples include:
The Spicy Chick (fried chicken thigh, buffalo drizzle, ranch, etc.) which many reviewers say is a standout.
The 3 on 3 monster burger (six 2-oz patties, etc.) which makes for a fun “kill-it-if-you-can” moment.
Loaded fries, tenders, dessert options like brownies, specialty milkshakes.
Flavour, Freshness & Quality Ingredients feel fresh; sauces are bold; beef sourced locally; the idea of “source” is important to them. The beef has honest depth of flavour.
Chicken proved succulent and crispy in several reviews.
Good Value for What You Get Reviewers acknowledge that for what you’re paying, you’re getting a decent portion, good ingredients, and a lot of flavour. Even the “box meals” (burger + fries + drink) are seen as satisfying.
Delivery Reach & Service Grill Plug delivers within an 8-mile radius (so covers a wide area). Service is reported as prompt,...
Read moreI don’t usually leave reviews like this, but I feel it’s necessary to share my experience. I visited on July 13th around 4 PM, having driven all the way from London after choosing this location based on its strong Google ratings. Unfortunately, my visit was disappointing.
I waited in line for approximately 20 minutes, and when I reached the front, the person taking orders was occupied in the kitchen and unable to acknowledge me. After waiting further without being served and hearing from others in the queue that they had been waiting over 30 minutes for their food so I decided to leave.
It’s difficult to justify such delays for what’s meant to be a fast food experience. The staff appeared overwhelmed, and additional support seems necessary during busy periods. Sadly, I left without eating and felt that my time had been wasted.
EDIT: The location is correct business owner. Also, I went into the back there’s only one place in that car park area that had the logo up Grill Plug. Nonetheless, I’m just sharing my experience and I hope this is taken into consideration.
Thank you for your response once again. It’s unfortunate that instead of acknowledging the feedback provided, the focus was placed on deflecting responsibility and directing blame toward a customer who genuinely came to try your food but couldn’t. I wish you the best with your business...
