Samson Blewitt — Restaurant in Cannock Chase

Ordered a sharer and asked for it to come out as a starter, confirmed it at least 3 times, when it came out, it was a starter and not a sharer, been told that I would have to pay the difference even though I confirmed it at least 3 times, then the staff and who ever the guy in charge was at the time started to get a bit stroppy and then the guy in charge every time he come out of the back was staring at me, every time... got a problem I think, should be dealing with customers with an attitude like he had, never experienced anything like this before... the good thing is they brought out the sharer and said I didn't have to pay it, even though I wasn't, I did say if there's a problem I'd have a refund if he was that bothered.. food wasn't the best, had a mega mix grill, left 3/4 of it... as you can see by my reviews I don't often leave a bad one, but I won't be returning.. and will insist on friends and family not to go here... staff need customer service training... came out for a family meal for a birthday, there was 8 of us that spent a lot of money to be made felt like we was... shocking... another good point is i didn't realise that they took blue light card discount and they refunded me the discount which I was greatful for in all honesty... need to put it somewhere that you accept blue light, as...

This is our local pub/eatery. Most of the staff are warm and friendly. One has been repeatedly rude and incompetent. On one occasions I ordered a glass of house chardonnay, it had run out and rather than inform me I was served a glass that was over 50% more expensive. Arrived for food last night and stood waiting at the bar for the female server to finish with the customers she was already serving. The male staff member came to the bar Ignored us and asked someone approaching the bar if he could help. My partner said we were here already waiting, he ignored this but his female counterpart said oh so sorry I'll get to you next. He finished before she did and rather than start serving us he walked away. When he bought our food out his plonked it down without speaking or asking whose dish was whose, as we swapped we burnt our fingers as the plates were so hot ( he hadn't informed us of this). Then joy of joys he cleared our plates and drinks before we were finished and again with no words exchanged. The female staff member did ask us if we had enjoyed our food, we said yes but that the male was particularly rude. She just said sorry, we get that a lot. We decided to try the pub as it was fairly local and we had received some vouchers through the post. My first impressions weren't brilliant as I felt our table for two had been squeezed between two larger parties and I was disappointed when I realised you order at the bar as I like to sit and relax when out for a meal - not have to go up to the bar. However, my initial thoughts soon changed as when the food was brought over to us a mistake had been made and they had cooked the wrong burger for my husband but they were genuinely sorry. So as not to waste the food that had been cooked, my husband was quite happy to accept the burger but to say sorry they gave us drinks on the house for the mistake and went out of their way to engage with us after this. We love eating out and do so regularly but just lately there have been so many places that we won't return to because of poor service, poor quality of food or staff that just can't be bothered to enter into any kind of conversation with you. We will definitely return to this pub as the food was good quality and good value for money and the staff were approachable and genuinely cared about the service they were...
