Huntsman & Horn — Restaurant in Canterbury

Unfortunately we have had a terrible experience of this pub on a number of occasions. They have a children’s menu and we have been many times with our kids who are very well behaved. They accept children in there but we always feel unwelcome and the kids are always being told off. Never once have we had any complaints from anyone actually the opposite other customers around us have complimented us on how well our children behave. The owner has approached our children and told them off but never approached the parents or adults in our group. Once we paid our £420 bill they then approach us with awful accusations against the adults and that the children have been chaotic, this was also in front of the children rather than being pulled aside. I feel that this was an awful Experience and a horrible experience for the children to hear these awful accusations against them and the adults. It is clear to see that kids are not welcome at all even well behaved ones and felt uncomfortable on many occasions, we put this aside being our local restaurant and pub. Not accommodating at all. So where to start, we were looking for a place to have a get together for Christmas close to the Premier Inn. Lindsay and Sam were new to the pub so we investigated The Huntsman ..... Lindsay and Sam could not have been more friendly. They remained flexible and cheerful even when numbers felt like they were ever changing due to covid.

We had a group of approx 22 people, Lindsay catered, the food was amazing, the cellar well kept and the atmosphere second to none....Thank you Charlie you were the perfect barmaid for our group. At breakfast the next morning there was only praise and the feeling a fantastic evening was had by all...Thank you for catering especially for a special diet too.

I was advised by a work colleague that when in Herne Bay, pop in a try the food at the Huntsman & Horn, you wont be disappointed and we wasnt. Sam and his staff were very welcoming and the atmosphere was relaxed. This is a dog friendly pub which appeals to me. We decided to stay for the Sunday roast. The food was plentiful and delicious and the presentation was excellent. Staff were attentive and were always available for further requests. I was pleasantly surprised by the final bill too. A 56 mile trip to try the Huntsman but absolutely worth it. I will definitely come here again and cant recommend it enough. Thank you Sam...
