Has changed owners several times in the last few years the current ones are the best by far. Went in yesterday for midweek lunch and was impressed. Has a very good selection of food on the menu, prices are a bit on the pricey side but quality was very good. I had a classic burger which was very nice and my wife who is a vegan had a noodle type stir fry which she said was great (put pictures up of both) Desserts very good too !

Impromptu first visit whilst driving home from Lakeside and looking for somewhere to eat. We remembered that it was recently renovated. Nice calm and relaxed atmosphere and attentive staff. I have the ribs which was succulent and tasty. My wife had the Chicken. Sharwama which she thought it was very good. In the future we will try the all day carvery or Sunday Roast. Great find! Will definitely go there again

Nice decor here. We ordered from the new menu which was a little pricey. I chose the beef ciabatta, the filling was tasty but the ciabatta was a bit dry. I had the cheesecake for dessert which was delicious. The service was excellent, our waitress Tabitha was delightful!

Not great first experience. Cant say it felt like a 'family' welcoming 'pub/restaurant' i went with my partner and 9 month old son early evening time and felt like i shouldnt have been there with my child at this course of time.. the local punters made me feel awkward aswell as the staff. The general staff wasn't overall friendly, to much seriouness on they're faces or just not a care in the world as to whos around them or watching. I had noticed there was a new fellow staff member who was nervous and abit held back as you could see it was all new to him. I didn't appreciate how certain staff was being fairly rude and abrupt with him, not showing him the formal ways of good customer services or how things should be done. Im no professional but it was poor behaviour how they treated the young man himself...it made me feel really sad and uncomfortable how lost he really looked throughout our whole time we was in there. I really hope he didn't leave feeling deflated as much as he looked!:(

I wasn't happy as they're wasn't no changing facilities for changing my baby, no one seemed bothered to attend my help when i attempted to ask if there was any possible disabled toilet i could use to make my life abit easier and wanting privacy and dignity for my son. certain staff seem to run away into the kitchen numerous times or act busy when i stood awaiting to be seen. The place was far from busy may I add..but The kitchen seems to be the biggest hide away for most staff or the main gathering spot..instead i had the struggles of changing my baby on the concrete flooring in the womens toilets..the up side was toilets was clean, but its beside my point. Not much food choice on menu, seemed to be out of stock on most starters and upped for main meal only.

I had the fish and chips for main course and to my complete suprise fish was full filed with bones from the top to the end of its fins....luckily I see these after 4 mouthfuls as I was sharing some parts with my 9 month old son at the time and grateful he never got a bone stuck in his throat. I wouldn't expected it to be bone free but nor did i expect it to be completly filled with bones. The side dishes (peas) (tartar sauce) had an overall powerful minty taste and sour taste to them...The taste was so off putting and really disappointing for a classic English dish. My partner had the beef burger and contracted a terrible icky tummy once we arrived home after the meal and became overall sick from the food. I don't mean to downgrade a possible good pub to some people but Improvements are 100% needed ASAP. I won't be returning anytime soon but hopefully in the mean time this place gets the...

This was an incredibly disappointing visit. I dont usually bother with poor reviews, i just dont go back, but this was so poor it needs to be recorded. We had a pre booked table for 6 adults and two young children to celebrate one of the adults birthdays. It was a wednesday at 5 p.m. We turned up and it was all ok with starters coming along in a decent time. All seemed well except one of the starters, the chicken wings had a few undercooked wings which were left and not mentioned because these things happen. Then after a while one of the mains turned up, we waited but nothing else came. Eventually after a good ten minutes we were told there had been a mix up, the first main had been cooked as a seperate order and others would follow. After twenty mins the one person who got the main had finished and we were told the head chef had come downstairs to help out because they were so behind. This is a wednesday, there was hardly anyone in the restaurant. The saga continued, eventually the mains came. One, a salad , had cheese all over it , it had been specifically requested without cheese so it went back. Another of the mains, chilli prawns in linguini , was stewed and soaked in grease and chilli oil, horrible, it went back and as we had waited so long the person didnt even bother ordering another dinner. The two fish and chips, the fish was alright but the chips tasted reheated, they were left. Eventually, having been there 2.5 hours we finished, had the birthday cake we had bought and left. The meal was ruined and although the man who was in charge took something off the bill it seemed like we were paying good money just to get out. The only reason i give this one star is because the lady and man bar staff tried their best, they remained calm and tried to help but it was a disaster, a birthday spolit by poor food and worse service from the kitchen. An awful experience and on a personal note thats the third time ive been to the bread and cheese to eat and the third time its been bad. Sorry to have to leave such a poor review but sometimes you just have to...

Table booked for 7pm on a Saturday. Place wasn't very busy despite this it's very noisy and echoey. When we went to order food, one party member ordered a dish to be told it was unavailable, no problem it happens but would have been better to know when being seated. The waiter then recommended the ribs, the party members agreed. A few moments later the waiter came back and said the ribs were unavailable, the party member not really wanting anything else reluctantly went for the carvery (3 of the table picked this). Upon going up to the carvery the man behind the counter rudely said "this is all we have leff" there was only 2 meats (the drags left) and barely enough potatoes an veg for 3 people. 2 party members went with it anyway but 1 decided against it as it looked horrible and there was barely anything. The person who decided against it already had 2 unsuccessful orders, they ended up just having a portion of chips at this point.

All the food was mediocre. We still decided to have dessert. Unfortunately the waiting staff were too busy counting there float (cash) than bothering to clear our table or offer dessert. Why they were cashing up at 8.30?

We went over and asked for dessert menus and were huffed at. Eventually they came over and took our order. The member that hadn't had a many ordered a dessert to be told it was unavailable again....unbelievable! Again why not tell us before we made our decision. At this point we called it quits and just asked for the bill. When we got the bill they had thr cheek to try and charge us for the carvery we didn't have and got shirty when we asked for it to be removed.

Honestly, we will never return to this place. Avoid at all cost, really gone downhill since the...
