Absolute disgrace. Booked table a week before on arrival given oldest dirtiest looking pub bench. Not even shown to our table had to walk around looking for reserved paper on the table (not covid friendly) there was 5 of us so asked to move to bigger table as we were so squashed. After an hour no one had taken our order only 3 staff seen in and out. Had to go and ask for them to come and take out order. Young lad clearly new came eventually he tried his best but clearly hadn't been trained very well and had no support order unfortunately ended up being wrong given bill before we received anything it was all wrong they brought tray of drinks out 25 mins after we ordered but only 3 of drinks were right which was gin and it was so watered down as ice had melted so much and a cider we didn't even order. We questioned the bill and then agreed to just cancel the whole order and leave. The girl apologised but it wasn't even that busy but with the 3 staff we saw they were trying. Management clearly very at fault. Whether it's post covid and new owners or not this is defo how not to do things. My group had all paid for taxis and come from work etc to meet after time apart due to covid it was meant to be a nice catch up but it was an hour and a half wasted sat outside no drinks no food... Unbelievable... Don't even bother. This place used to be really nice but never again after that experience it was ruined for everyone left us all thirsty hungry and out of...
Read moreCame here for our evening meal with my four children and a friend with her child, we sat and after looking at the menu had all decided one what to have, my friend ordered her food while I sat with the children and then it was my turn to order. I went to the bar to be told that if I order food I would be waiting an hour, I asked if that was the same for my friend who had ordered just before and they said no because she ordered first, no staff mention to her that the restof us would be waiting and hour for food. So my only option was to leave my friend and her child and take my children home to eat. Having three very upset children that couldn't enjoy the evening we'd planned. Not good service when the staff knew we were all one table. I probably won't return as the embarrassment of having to get four crying children out of a busy pub while people looked on is not something I'd like to...
Read moreI visited the Anchor for a wake, which I didn't expect to be an enjoyable experience, but I have to say that the function room was lovely and the food was absolutely fab. We had a huge buffet spread, with a range of hot and cold food, which was much more interesting and tasty than the usual ham sandwiches and bowls of crisps. Everything was beautifully presented, and I'm informed that it was really competitively priced. I haven't visited under any other circumstances, but if the food is as good for normal meals as for functions, I'd recommend it hands down! I've been told that they do a cracking fish and chips, so I'll certainly be back to try it...
