My second visit to the King's Arms and some years since my first. For a Marstones establishment that was good value appears as so many other places now not providing that value we all consider the national groups companies used to provide. I don't need to remind everyone that today's cost is actually making the smaller independent eating places so called bistro pubs now more value for money, I'm not saying they are value but against the menu prices of the Kings Arms whois charging £8.25 for a large glass of red wine, Merlot? Has anyone noticed the has in fact, become a smaller glass in size. A trick food manufacturers has done under everyone's noses, such as chocolate bars. Let's face it these eateries are driving the public away. Noticeably here at lunchtime, the atmosphere was lacking of the noise that once raised voices to be heard above a crowded room are noticeably quiet. Food acceptable be as with most cost cutting establishments minimal. Its been years now that I've not attempted a 3 course lunch, unfortunately I'm thinking that way.. The service was good could not fault the younger girls who served. Food quality only run of the mill for me, my companion had had a steak pie, benefit of the doubt, a pukka pie from any chip shop would provide the same or better satisfaction! To sum things up, I think Marstons could do a lot better, we deserve better menu's now similar as...
Read moreAs a family of five returning from a day out, we were looking for somewhere to eat and came across your restaurant online. The prominent “Kids Eat for £1” offer caught our attention – especially as it was the school holidays. Based on this, we made a booking through your website and arrived in good spirits.
However, upon being seated and enquiring about the offer, we were told it was not valid due to it being a bank holiday. This was both surprising and frustrating, as your website did not make this exception immediately clear. In fact, there was no obvious click-through to any terms and conditions when viewing the promotion. Only after actively searching through your website did I eventually find the T&Cs which state that the offer excludes bank holidays.
From a customer experience and advertising standpoint, this felt misleading and poorly communicated. The key detail about bank holiday exclusions should be made visible at the point of promotion, not buried in the small print or in hard-to-find pages.
While we stayed and dined regardless, this interaction soured what could have been a positive visit. Clear, upfront communication is vital – especially when targeting families with enticing offers.
I hope you will review how this promotion is presented online to avoid similar disappointments for...
Read moreI booked a table for 4 people, for 12.30. The restaurant was busy, but took our seats. The waiting time before the waitress came to attend our table was atrocious, in fact we had to call for her attention 3 times for another drink. The waitress also told us on our 1st drink they are all standard size, and that we couldn't have a large. However when we ordered our 2nd drink we tried again to order a large, she said that the reason why there was no large cups, was because there were no cups, as the machine was being cleaned. Not an ideal time to clean the machine when the restaurant was quite full. When my 2nd hot chocolate came, it was in a large cup, but there wasn't even half a cup of fluid in the cup, she took it away and put more in. The food, when it eventually came was warm. After we had finished our meal, at no point did the waitress take our empty plates away, in fact we moved them onto another table ourselves. I understand the waitress was new, but, when it's that busy, there should be another waitress to help and support, very bad management. I have never felt the need to complain about a restaurants service and food before. We went there for a nice birthday meal, ended up, will be remembered for a shambles, and not one we will...
