We had sole use of the pub for my wife's surprise birthday party. There aren't many places you can book out on a Saturday night but Sarah & Charlotte welcomed me the first time I enquired, and I never looked back. It was perfect for what we wanted - to have approx. 90 of our closest friends and family, including kids to celebrate with was amazing. Certainly not to big to make it feel disjointed but also not small where we all felt on top on one another. We had seating for the oldies, separate food area and the kids had plenty of room to run around outside....if they weren't dancing! The bar staff were great, very friendly and able to cope with a busy bar. We had a DJ (Geoff Grove) who had a good area to set up and ready made dance floor in front of him and at the back we had enough room for some LED numbers and arranged balloon garland. Sarah helped with our food choice, how to arrange the pub and allowed us to decorate the pub with banners, photo's etc. I couldn't speak highly enough of how much they helped in making the night a great success. I'd highly recommend if you had an occasion like this coming up.

Have been meaning to visit for a while since seeing updates from the owner on local social media. Thought we would chance a Friday afternoon lunch and hoped there was fresh fish and chips available - I had one of the last portions so that was perfect timing. Prices are great, it's a traditional family run pub, very welcoming staff. They were very busy so made sure we were aware there was a 30 min wait for food which wasn't an issue when it's freshly cooked to order anyway. Food was delicious and will definitely return to try other options on the menus. The set menu 2 courses for £12.50 seems exceptional value! If you want a guaranteed table it is probably best to book ahead.

What a fabulous venue for a celebration. We held my husband’s 70th birthday party last Saturday here with over 120 guests. I had so many positive comments regarding what a great place it was and how there were so many separate areas to socialise but because the pub is open plan it didn’t break up the party group. The atmosphere was brilliant. The staff worked incredibly hard to ensure everything ran smoothly, the buffet was very good value and we had plenty of food for guests. I would highly recommend The Crown for private hire and we will be booking again for future celebrations.

My work colleagues and I had the pleasure of experiencing a heart-warming Christmas meal at The Sandon Crown, a delightful traditional English pub nestled against a charming village green and adjacent to a picturesque church. From the inviting ambiance to the classic pub fare, every detail was curated to capture the essence of a true British Christmas.

Stepping into this quaint English pub felt like entering a time-honoured haven, adorned with festive decorations that enhanced the cozy atmosphere. The rustic charm of the interior, framed by the village green and the nearby church, set the stage for an evening steeped in traditional British hospitality.

The staff, embodying the spirit of great British hospitality, welcomed us with genuine warmth. Their friendly smiles and helpful manor made us feel relaxed like cherished guests.

Now, let's talk about the heart-warming Christmas meal—a celebration of classic pub fare. The menu featured familiar favourites, expertly prepared with a nod to traditional British culinary simplicity. The chefs at The Sandon Crown showcased their expertise with each course, presenting them in a way that felt like a comforting embrace of holiday traditions.

We started with a delightful array of appetizers that mirrored the simplicity of beloved pub snacks, bringing a touch of nostalgia to our gathering. The main course featured a hearty turkey roast with all the classic trimmings—a quintessential Christmas dish prepared with care and a dash of homey charm. The flavours were authentically British, reminiscent of cherished family gatherings.

The dessert selection was a sweet finale that captured the essence of a traditional British Christmas. From indulgent Christmas puddings to classic favourites, each dessert brought a familiar taste of the season to our table. The portion sizes were just right, leaving us with contented smiles.

Equally impressive was the impeccable service, reflecting the traditional values of a local English pub. The staff was attentive, friendly, and seamlessly blended modern efficiency with the timeless charm of British hospitality.

In conclusion, The Sandon Crown, with its traditional English pub setting, classic pub fare, and exceptional staff, exceeded our expectations. It delivered a Christmas meal that not only celebrated the holiday season but also embraced the rich culinary and cultural traditions of the region. I highly recommend this pub for anyone seeking a cozy and heart-warming Christmas celebration. Thank you, Sandon Crown, for making our Christmas gathering...

Will never go here again! Terrible to say the least! Being shouted and screamed abuse at by the owner and managers of the pub after being nothing but reasonable to them. We ordered a large order because there was 7 of us and they forgot an item, we have receipts to prove this. We asked if that was coming out and They stated that they had brought everything out. As anybody would, we said no it’s not you have forgot something. To which all hell broke loose with a bald man on the table opposite. Later realising this “man” was sat on the same table as the owner and nothing was being said to him explains the standard of this establishment. On top of that, the manager comes over and starts on us too! This was happening In front of everyone sat in the pub causing people to get up and leave halfway through bingo because they too felt so uncomfortable. For the manager to then, as we was leaving, embarrassingly shout out the doors at us and slam it. We was laughing at this point at how shockingly childish she was acting. Embarrassing for them because she was doing all of this in front of everyone watching. Just a shame because that property could be something great! Food was a puddle of grease too but that was the least of...

Lots of staff, lots of tables but struggled to see if we could come in to eat…. Told we couldn’t order a Sunday roast but could order from the bar menu, ordered, food came and it was a little on the poor side, not what I’ve seen in the photos from Google…. Asked at time of ordering if the cheese baguette came with pickle or anything else? (Not just cheese) was told yes…. Well it was just cheese with a little side salad - then it came to paying our bill… was told to go to the bar to pay… wasn’t shown a receipt and just given the card machine to pay, paid, got given the receipt ( thank god) and left restaurant got down the road then looked at receipt, realised we had been charged for an extra meal and the full price for fries when it should have been an add on price - turned around, went back to pub and had to ask for a refund- staff were saying Millie should have taken that off, she was told to do that… turns out Mille was the one we paid…. Feel a little taken advantage of… Millie also didn’t seem to care just walked off and said ” oh sorry “ with no explanation to why we were charged for a whole extra meal… won’t be...
