Haybarn Tea Rooms — Restaurant in Chelmsford

I booked a afternoon tea for my mums 60th birthday last week for 2 people. Unfortunately we went into the 2nd lockdown, i spoke with the owner a lovely lady (Joan i think her name was!), she was so accommodating. I was told i could move the date when lockdown had finished or get a full refund.... Well Joan and me came to arrangement that she would make it as a take away not to ruin my mums birthday lunch. Joan met me at the closed gate this morning and handed over scones, jam, cream, a variety of cakes and freshly made sandwiches. I dropped them off to my mum for lunch and she was over the moon. She said they was absolutely beautiful and fresh. Joan even went to the effort of lending me the 3 tiered cake / sandwich stand for me to present them to her. If i could give you more than 5 stars i would. You made my mums 60th birthday lunch amazing! Thank you so much for all your effort. Once this virus has gone and lockdown is over i will bringing the whole family to your Tea room!! Thank you again in such a dark time you really...

**“Well I WISH I took a picture, because nobody is gonna believe this… I ordered a ‘baguette’ today for £6.80 (oh and they scammed me 80p extra just to make it a baguette in the first place 🤷‍♂️). What I got was HALF a baguette. Not even like a big baguette halved… imagine the smallest baguette you’ve ever seen in your life… then cut that in half. That’s what I got.

Then they slapped me with £1.80 for a can of Pepsi Max (not even the full fat Pepsi, the Max). Total damage: £8.60… for what was basically 2 bites of bread and some fizzy brown water.

Honestly, daylight robbery. I might actually go back and buy another one just so I can upload a photo of this baguette...

A spur of the moment phone call to arrange a birthday afternoon tea. They could not have been more accommodating. The table was laid when we arrived and looked amazing. The sandwiches were fresh and varied. And the cake stand was bending under the variety of cakes and scones. (All home made). Will be popping back for tea and...
