One Green Bottle — Restaurant in Chelmsford

I visit this place four or five times a year. Regrettably yesterday 26/01/22 the two beers I drank from Wantsum were so cold they had no condition whatsoever in them. Flat as a pancake. I chatted to the server who said they had to be kept cold, but on checking the temperature in the cellar did agree they were overchilled an said she would have to do something about that. Staff really need to be trained to recognise when something is not right. I suspect the cellar is poorly insulated and largely reflects the temperature outside, whereas when it is warmer they can turn a cellar chiller on and all is fine. Best kept tiny secret on this side of Essex. The land lady is fantastic. Selection superb. Just be careful not to let the whole day run away from you while you lay ruin to one of their famous 4 pint growlers! Decor is great (want to have a table and stool set for my place!) Quirky micro pub in a quirkier location; in the middle of the antiques markets. Selling a great range of real ales, straight from the barrels out back. Staff are really friendly and prices are reasonable. Had a good pint of well-kept Broadside.
