KFC Chelmsford- Springfield — Restaurant in Chelmsford

About 630 on Thursday 12/10/23 I attended this branch of KFC. Whilst placing my order I was distracted by an argument between two people. I looked around and saw that two members of staff were standing face to face shouting and swearing at each other behind the service counter in full view and earshot of customers which included children. They were pointing fingers at each other. I fully expected this to end as a physical encounter. The staff members were a young male and a female, the male seemed to be the aggressor. My son shouted over to stop them. The male disappeared from view, while the female, although visibly distressed, carried on serving. I found this as unacceptable behaviour and was obviously distressing for the female staff member. I am sure this can be found on CCTV. Also having placed and paid for our order we were handed our order to be told the drink we had ordered was unavailable. Why was this not shown on the self service order screen? Will I be returning to this branch? No. On returning home we found that my son's burger had been thrown together and looked anything but appealing. Obviously the high standards expected by KFC do not apply...

How stingy with the sauce on the bites?!

I got the Gravy Mega box as is on offer via the app at £3.99. I was going to get wrap of the day as they are good value, but the srsff told me they weren't doing them at the moment because of the Christmas menu. I can't see any logic to that. I did suggest that perhaps they should do a Christmas wrap.

Anyway, as they weren't doing the wrap of the day, I got the SweetbChilli Dipped Bites instead.

The word 'dipped' is doing a lot of legwork here. The amount of sauce in the pot was ridiculous- hardly any at all. I've never had anywhere near this little sauce. See the pictures for what I mean. KFC have gone too far in the past and given way too much sauce but this is totally the opposite.

Very poor. The member of staff that served me was very polite, but this was disappointing as being coated in sauce is a big thing with the bites. The price has jumped up a lot in the last couple of years too from £1.99 to an inflation busting £2.79, which makes this even worse.

BTW, the Mega Gravy Box was okay. Not that fresh, but...

FOOD 4/5 I recommend waiting for a fresh batch of chicken; that's when KFC is at its best. Recently sampled the new Teriyaki burger—unfortunately, it didn't quite hit the mark. The size was surprisingly small, and the mix of red cabbage, mayonnaise, and Teriyaki sauce was peculiar. At £7.99 for a meal, I wouldn't recommend it. Plenty of better options on the menu 👍🏼 SERVICE 3/5 The service here is polite but nothing impressive. All requests are respectfully fulfilled. VALUE 5/5 £30 for a family of 5 is great. NOTE TO MANAGEMENT: I was quite surprised at how dirty the toilets were though and having been raised in the catering industry, toilets are always a sign of the general mindset of a food establishment. It's one thing having a cleaning rota, it's another thing doing the job and knowing how to do it. If the toilets are clean, the food will be handled...
