Rude, aggressive service from one particular member of staff, female, older, looked to be manager or owner.
I went to the bar with my children to order food and drinks. When I politely asked if there was a food menu she passed me a photocopy and said â it was right in front of you.â
I realised the copy was too small and hadnât brought my glasses so I said that to her and asked if they had vegetarian childrens pizzas.
She brusquely replied that they had cheese and tomato pizzas so I asked to order them. She then queried â!where are you sitting?â I said by the play area and she then aggressively replied â I need a table number, havenât you seen the amount of people out there??â
This couldâve been handled differently. Like just saying - would you mind getting the table number please before I put through the order?
Then my husband went up to order the food and drinks after getting the table number.
He asked do you do childrenâs pizzaâs? If so, how large are they cause I donât know whether to order two or one.
Same person then said â well how big is the child?? I donât know how big your child is â. And then continued to go along in that vein. It may not look so bad written but she was extremely aggressive in her manner.
He said â donât worry about it, youâre really rude, we are leaving â. She was still speaking to him about the pizza. He walked away. We left.
Prior to running my own business I worked in hospitality. For years. We are very supportive of staff in the hospitality industries.
Itâs called hospitality for a reason. The people who frequent your establishment are called guests for a reason.
People become complacent and treat their paying guests like theyâre lucky to even be there. Like theyâre doing you a favour.
The last few years have been terrible on this industry so you wouldâve thought anyone lucky enough to still be running a business would lift their game.
They have a bad reputation locally and we were never one to buy that. Now,...
Read moreNever having been to this place before were not sure what to expect. It started off ok as my granddaughter needed the ladies and we were very impressed with the chandeliers etc and the cleanliness. Unfortunately it all went downhill from there. In our party we had 3 adults & a 9 year old. Before we sat down we had to clean the table ourselves which was filthy. Luckily I had an antibacterial spray and tissues and managed to get a lot of the dirt off. This was the first meal out since lockdown, and definitely a place we would never visit again. My husband had the steak & ale pie which came with just chips no veg at all. I had ham, egg and chips which was stone cold and my granddaughter had hot dog and chips which was ok. The third adult had ceaser salad with chicken & bacon which sounded lovely at £12.95. They were very busy so the wait for the meal didn't bother us but mine was stone cold, and my son's when it eventually, which was much later than ours, looked like a side dish from a pizza place it was so small. We had no cutlery & no condiments. I asked the waiter if they'd made a mistake with the salad and he was pretty shocked also that we were paying that for such a meagre salad. He took it back to the kitchen and after 10 mins when we'd nearly finished my son was still waiting. In the end he went in and asked for refund. His salad turned up whilst he was gone and the waitress took it and boxed it up for him. Although very nice to go out for a meal just chose the wrong place. Not one mask to be seen by staff or public. The arrows on floor were not being adhered to by the staff, and one member of staff actually pushed her way past my husband and I we were going the way of the arrows. I actually said to her arrows actually pointing the way we're going not her and she just said 'yeah I know' Will be a lot more careful next time we...
Read moreThere was only one vegan main and one starter and I consider offering sorbet as the vegan option pudding a token jesture. The ordering options were strange as you had to either order two or three courses and the two course option had to be a main and pudding so discriminatory for diabetes sufferers. à was allowed at the discretion of the management to have a coffee in the place of the scoops of flavoured ice but that meant the coffee was more expensive than it ort to have been. I feel you should be given the option to order individual courses as people do not all have the same appetite or perhaps people may wish to share a starter or order two in the place of a main. This rigid arrangement seemed rather unnecessary. Also six of our party of eight were overcharged by mistake. I'm sure this was a genuine mistake but I would encourage anyone to check their bill. Overall all eight of us were pleased with the quality of the meals, portion size, and value for money. The staff were welcoming, very friendly , helpful...
