This is my second review of Reg's Cafe. I went in there today with my wife, daughter and granddaughter. As per usual the staff were polite and attentive. The cafe was spotless and plenty of parking and seating. However the quality of the food was terrible. I had a breakfast and the sausage was as dry as a piece of charcoal. The bacon seemed as though it had either been boiled or microwaved and not for very long at that. My daughter had a crispy bacon roll and chips. Again the bacon as described above, not good when she wanted it crispy. The roll that the bacon came in was dry and when she turned it over it was thick with green mould. They did take it back and bring out a fresher roll. The chips were full of black spots and tasted as though the oil they were cooked in tasted as though the oil was changed last millennium. This has been very disappointing for me to experience and review because I have given 5 stars before and always recommended them. After todays experience, I'm afraid I may have to rethink my recommendations.
This is a reply to the owners reply. Please don't think I am stupid and try to pass the mould off as flour. Unless your suppliers are using green and blue flour it just sounds as though you are trying to dodge the issue. If I had ordered well done surely the bacon would have come looking and tasting like bacon instead of a lump of tasteless flesh. Your reply trying to dodge any responsibility for what is clearly a massive drop in quality has left me hugely...
Read moreThis was my second visit to Reg’s Cafe. The place is very smart and clean. I loved the unique deco. It celebrates the British culture and one would be very blind not to notice and feel pride. The menu is very good with many options ranging from a quick snack to a heavy enough meal if that’s what the belly fancies. The food was well prepared. There was nothing to fault. Generous portions and really tasty. I had to request for a takeaway pack as I couldn’t finish my food before getting full. I was in a party of four and we all had different items off the menu and all of us were convinced we had chosen well. The service staff were absolutely fantastic and showed passion for their job. It most certainly works well that Reg and Alison (aka Mrs Reg) are active team leaders and present on site. They lead by example and not by iron fist. Kudos to those two for running such a fine establishment. I would not hesitate to recommend them to anyone in Banbury or surrounding areas, or even someone driving past on the M40, they are not too far off the motorway. Try Reg’s Cafe, you’ll experience good food, good service at...
Read moreReg's Café is an absolutely cracking little place, hidden away in the depths of Overthorpe Industrial Estate in Banbury. It isn't the sort of place that has big comfy sofas or arm chairs... neither does it have any breath taking views out of the huge windows or from the outside seating area.... But what it does have is the top Food Hygiene Rating of 5, arguably the best breakfast in the area, including the Reg's Belly Buster Breakfast, a fantastic varied value for money menu, a vibrant atmosphere with wonderfully lovely, friendly & helpful staff, and... Reg. If ever you are lucky enough to be in his café when he's mingling with his customers... you really better hold on tight! It will be a place that you tell your friends about and a place you will want to return to.... Again......
