I've eaten here a few times but on this occasion the experience was under par. GF roll with my soup was like a bullet, the butternut squash soup was spicy, but little flavour and was cold and watery - most likely because of the large swirl of cold cream added to it. My burger was served in an equally rock hard GF roll and the burger itself was greasy and had no flavour. Chips was very good though! My dining partner ordered the Christmas Turkey Dinner only to be told they had no cranberry sauce! The dinner was literally swimming in gravy too and by his standards was average..

We enquired what the pate starter was, the server didn't know so had to check. We asked what the curry of the day was, the server didn't know so had to check too. No steak either at 7.30pm as they'd run out!

Saving grace (apart from the chips) was the GF Banoffee Cheesecake...delicious! Bit odd when they brought my dining partners Christmas Pudding cut up into chunks and served in a latte glass covered in squirty cream though...

It's such a shame, but just a few things really need to be addressed. Maybe make sure servers know what's available/not available without having to run back to the kitchen each time to check, make sure the food is hot and the bread edible too. Bless her, when asked to split the bill in half, the server also struggled halving £61.40.

Really disappointed this time, so much so that we've decided to go elsewhere for our next meal out instead of returning to what had started to become one of our favourite...

Me and my family visited this place on the 24th of August and I could not believe how poor the quality of the food was! There was four of us and to start with two of our main meals were incorrect. Upon receiving the correct food, they could only be described as very shoddy. We hardly enjoyed our meals, the chips were VERY greasy and the burgers were of poor quality. I am very unimpressed and when I had complained to one of the waitresses she told me that the chef is useless. Hardly something that you want to hear as you’re about to eat something that they’ve prepared for you! I couldn’t actually finish my main course (chicken schnitzel burger) it tasted that unpleasant. The rest of the family didn’t enjoy their meals! Desert wasn’t that much better, two of us had a very dry brownie and it was not very nice, however I forced it down due to being very hungry after not eating my main course. They never offered any discount, money off or even a free drink despite complaining in the restaurant and feeling very unsatisfied. My partner works as a chef and I have worked front of house in some restaurants and I completely outraged with the service I have received. This is definitely a place that I will NOT be returning to. The money was definitely not well spent and the menu isn’t worth the paper it’s printed on!!! Avoid at all costs and go somewhere where you will get good quality food...

Their Sunday Roasts are good, however if you are gluten free or vegan or have any special requirements I don't recommend you go. The GFA of a standard Sunday roast is exactly the same as the 'normal' roast, minus stuffing, gravy and a yorkshire pudding. Why is this a problem? I payed the exact same price as someone you got all those extra items, yet I had significantly less, it looked like i had been given a child's portion. And when the bill came they charged me exactly the same as the full plates. THEY DID NOT SUBSTITUTE ANYTHING! Just didn't put anything with gluten on the plate. It's not an 'alternative' it's just so they sound inclusive, but they don't actually bother getting anything in gluten free. My chicken and potatoes would of probably tasted nice with gravy but i wouldn't know, sipping from my glass every few seconds because it was so dry. Another one at our table asked for vegan meal, yet they were given a Yorkshire pudding, (it contains eggs), so they don't even know what...

Starter was lovely, we had a meat sharing platter. Unfortunately the mains were a disappointment. I had sausage and mash. I wasnt keen on the sausages, but that's just personal preference. However the mash was lumpy and bland and the gravy was like water. Thankfully I had a side of bread to 'mop it up' My partner had the chicken and bacon burger and chips. The chicken 'burger' was in fact pieces of very dry chicken, even with the sauce they were dry. The chips were the opposite and rather greasy. He had a side of mac and cheese, and again, this was very bland. Even with the table salt and pepper, it made it just about edible. Such a shame, the service was lovely and friendly. Maybe the chef was just having an off night, as I've heard others having lovely flavoursome meals there.

Last time I visited don't know if it was a bad midweek evening to go, but the choice of real ales was poor, service was slow, not that busy and running out of glasses. I was disappointed to say the least. This time it was midweek again, but at lunchtime. There was a choice of 3 ale's, i chose the Wainwright's, so pleased I did it was crystal clear with a good head and lined the glass. So would I go back, yes I would if they had 3 ale's to choose from.

A complete overhaul that the area was in need of. The whole interior has been done to a high standard and the menus look very nice too and priced just about right. We popped in for coffee and tea but sadly no breakfast till the new year.. Lovely staff and the outside area is going to be a major attraction during the spring and summer months for sure. Booked in for Christmas meal so will update on the next visit...
