The food here is very cheap and you get large portions BUT it’s HIGHLY PROCESSED food except for the steak, jacket potatoes and side salad.
There is no clean, healthy food, which is available to eat, everything is fried or highly processed!! I tried to eat the apple crumble today and that too was an absolute disaster. There was so much sugar in the crumble topping it made my teeth stand on edge, it was inedible, again it was highly processed quickly heat up food.
I don’t understand why so many pubs insist on not offering healthy alternatives, food properly made from scratch, not bulk bought in??
We are all getting the message from our doctors about eating healthier for our own health and how highly processed food will affect our health and how long we live because of the food choices we make! I don’t understand why some pubs aren’t getting this message that it’s customers would like to eat far better quality of food, which isn’t deep fried, highly processed and is healthy. I’m not talking about just serving up salads, but a range of healthy food alternatives. I feel physically sick eating highly processed food and talking to other people I’m not the only one!! A lot of people have dietary issues and health issues and don’t want to be served up a heart attack on a plate or those who suffer from diabetes have their blood sugar go through the roof because of how much sugar is in their food!
Also I was also stunned that a large orange juice and lemonade was just over £3.60 a glass!
I know my comments will go on deaf ears, because this pub is probably owned by a pub chain but it’s about time we make our voices heard to management that we want to buy good quality non processed healthy food we can enjoy! I am prepared to pay extra money for better food. I would like to live longer too by being able to make the right...
Read moreAfter walking around the lakes earlier today, my wife and I decided to pop into this pub for lunch, its was aprox. 1.30. We used to go there about 10 years ago and enjoyed the atmosphere. Boy has it changed ! For a bank holiday monday it was quite empty inside with about 30ish people outside in the garden. When we entered the pub there were about 8 people around the bar waiting to be served and 4 staff serving. I waited my turn to be served as i will never push in (im not french). I am 6' 2" so im easy to see and was wearing a pink and white striped Tommy Hilfigure top so i didn't exactly blend in. As people were served (slowly) i waited....and waited and the staff would shout "anyone wanting" TWICE i raised my hand and twice I was looked at by 2 different staff members and blanked and instead they served the person closest to them. I would guess they were regulars in my opinion. I waited another 3 minutes then said something to myself out loud that i will not repeat on hear snd left. My wife was watching this unfold in amazement and wasn't surprised when I came back empty handed. I will never waste my time visiting this posh pub again ! I say posh as i have never saw prices this high in my life apart from the Ritz, and believe me when I say the Ritz its not! £9.50 for a fish finger sandwich! Another pub destined to close down. I have never minded paying top price for top service and good food, but no service and high prices do not mix. I am honest in my reviews and always write it as i saw it and I have enjoyed writing some 5 star reviews of places I have visited, sadly this wasn't...
Read moreThe only real reason to come here is to have a catch up with your friends (although there are plenty of other nicer pubs to meet up at)
Let’s be real, it is a Greene king pub so don’t set your expectations too high BUT we went for the chicken dish where you got to choose 2 types of chicken, 2 sides and a sauce for £8.49. We didn’t come across many problems with ordering except there was only the Louisiana chicken strips to choose from. When I ordered the 2 sides (Mac and cheese and garlic bread) I asked if I could also order a separate side of corn on the cob. “No you can only order 2 sides” granted he might not of understood me but I think the appropriate answer would of been “sure there is an extra charge for that is that ok” the drinks were a disaster too. Lemonade and lime and a lemonade and orange. The server just couldn’t really comprehend what he needed to do. The food comes out woo hoo… or not woo hoo. The garlic bread had been left under a heat lamp for 3 days and was stale and dry as anything. The max and cheese (as you can see from the video) was the most watered down dish ever, the corn was boiled so much it had no flavour and the chicken strips. Well they were actually passable with a bit of sauce. Even the chef agreed with us that it was all rubbish! We won’t...
