Worst meal ever! This was our favourite Indian until this last visit. We have been coming here, albeit infrequently, for at least three years. It was that good we never went elsewhere and travelled 20 mins from Kiveton Park. The last visit was a Wednesday evening around 6pm and we were the only dinners in the restaurant. To be fair that is not out of the ordinary on a Wednesday evening. We have visited plenty of upscale venues on Wednesday and never needed reservations.
However, after only 5 minutes of finishing our starters the main meal arrived. After voicing her displeasure on the lack of time lapse the manager told my wife we should have told THEM we needed a longer gap! Excuse me, but have any of you guys out there ever done that? Bearing in mind we were still the only two diners in the restaurant they didn't need to turn the tables. In point of fact, we waited far longer for our first drinks arriving than we did the food!
More importantly though was the state of my wife's Lamb Shaslik when it arrived so promptly. OMG, the worst lamb we have ever seen, I would have said tasted it but we couldn't cut it! I jest not, the majority of the meat could not be cut by normal cutlery. The rest was battleship grey in colour, truly disgusting.
There is absolutely no way on earth that meat was freshly cooked. I had to call the manager through the young girl on 'the desk' and he said he thought all the lamb would be the same! My wife therefore chose a chicken shaslik instead. This meant I had to eat my own meal alone while hers was re-cooked which she enjoyed with cold rice and nan bread.
We have eaten all over the UK and never ever have we complained or sent food back. We never received an apology, a free dtink or any discount for the severe poor service so the only alternative is to vote with our feet and advise people how we think chutney spice has gone down hill. More importantly though, we will never ever go back. One can forgive the odd bad meal but not bad and...
Read moreTerrible service. Placed an order last night and taking in to account it was New Years Eve I called through just after 5pm and asked for it to be delivered around 7.30. Was advised they had quite a few orders for that time already and could it be 8pm, no problem, its NYE so to be expected. 8.30 and no food still, called up and was told they were just preparing the last couple of items and it would be on the way. Not ideal especially as we only ordered a few items for 2 of us anyway but ok fair enough. 9.00 and still no food, called again and was told it must be out with the driver now. It finally arrived at 9.20, luke warm at best, main portions very light on the meat and also one item missing completely. Was not worth the wait or the price, will...
Read moreWithout doubt the worst Indian meal we have ever had. Anyone who has rated over 2 stars has clearly never been to any other Indian restaurant. The food was not overcooked or raw. The only positives I can give. The meat hadn’t been marinated, none of the dishes had any flavour. The aromas that usually emanate from the kitchen were non existent. Paid over £60 for 2 chicken dishes, 2 pilau rice, sag aloo, 4 poppadoms, a pickle tray in which even the onions were not fresh & had no flavour. We dine at many Indian restaurants across the UK, but left very disappointed from here. Bland food & totally overpriced for the quality of the dishes. I’m pretty sure one of the reviews left on here is the English chef we...
