Mixed Experience at Goodwood Bar and Grill

My recent visit to the Goodwood Bar and Grill left me with mixed feelings. While the establishment boasts clean surroundings and picturesque views, the overall dining experience fell short of expectations.

The service was disappointingly slow, with extended wait times for both ordering and receiving food. This lag in service detracted from the enjoyment of the meal and was not reflective of the high prices charged.

The food quality, while acceptable, was average considering the premium pricing. The menu offered a variety of options, but the execution did not quite meet the anticipated standard of excellence.

Really enjoyed visiting this. The staff, venue and location are good However there was a negative as one of our group was a vegetarian and the veggie breakfast was really pitiful. Compared to the meat breakfast which had multiple sources of protein the vegetarian breakfast only had a single egg! With no other source of protein. There was a vegetable sausage but it was the type without protein. Feels like the place doesn't understand the needs and likes of vegetarians which is a little surprising given other aspects were so good. Our dog got 2 beautifully large sausages which was excellent. The meat eaters got multiple protein sources in the breakfast: large sausage, bacon, black pudding and an egg ! Which made the veggie version look really pitiful. This is a problem for us and friends as there is always at least one or two vegetarians in our group of friends and just means we couldn't really plan visits here knowing they are so poorly catered for. First visit and it was far more difficult to book than it ought to be. Wanted to arrange lunch and a spa visit gave up in the end just booked lunch.

More a cafe than a restaurant and the only thing I could see from the grill was a beef burger.

You need to place your order at the bar and pay, then your drinks and food are served at your table. Basically a choice of main course and sides.

Two out of three drinks arrived, so back to the bar to sort that. The food we ordered was very good to be fair just a limited choice. Our empty plates sat for a long time before being cleared away, despite numerous members of staff walking past. Once cleared, if we wanted a desert, it was back to the bar again to order and pay. Tad frustrating.

The staff knew little to nothing about what was happening on the racing circuit that day and even less about memberships.

Overall the food was good. The staff pleasant but table service was mediocre. Emails difficult and information hard to come by.

Disappointing given the reputation...
