Had a dinner there on Friday night. Bit of a chaos to the restaurant staff, not use to to be busy, ie 8 tables for 3 of them. Staff had very limited knowledge about the wines, atleast we knew what we wanted. Squid rings were very nice. It was a bit of a dissapointment not to have got a childs meal with our starter, we specifically asked. Once the mains arrived, the trout that I ordered was off. Got my friend to taste too without saying it to her and she confirmed what I thought!!! The mussels she ordered stared on the menu to be served with baquette, but came with chips. They had forgotten to tell us there was a mistake on the menu. Once the manager came she managed to get us the baquette as we expected. Told her the trout was off. She took it back to the kitchen. Apparently herself and the chef tasted it and it was fine. She kept fighting her corner. No appology. She just kept japping and not giving any solution. I actually had to stop her and ask her for solution. Finally got the replacement, salmon, it was ok. Once paying the bill she still would not appologize or admit that the trout was off. Fair enough I got a comp glass of wine and salmon for the half the price, but would have expected for her to admit the mistake. My friend and myself have worked in the catering business over 27 years together, as chef, waitresses, bar staff, also in Michelin star restaurants. I didnt expect much when we went there to eat, but fresh food is a must in all...

Food: The food wasn't very bad - although neither of us finished our meals - but it wasn't good either. Options were limited; we chose roast beef. The beef was quite fatty, the vegetables over-cooked and tasted similar to each other. Again, nothing was "bad" but it did not rate a higher score. Price was OK, £16 for a roast beef dinner which included two slices of beef, three halves of roast potatoes, a Yorkshire pudding and vegetables. Unfortunately the plate was almost hidden by gravy. The condiments were limited, for example there was no horseradish sauce for the beef.
Drinks: OK. No cocktail list, cocktails were a pimms or blood-orange spritzer.
Pros: they allow dogs, and there are bowls for water. Good price. There is some parking available.
Cons: the outside tables (and the garden area to be fair) need some tlc. The pond is green. The food needs to...
Read moreMe and my partner, and dog came to the pub after a long walk along West wittering beach and absolutely loved the pub! I can imagine with the front garden summer drinks here is a must it was gorgeous, but even the inside of the pub was beautifully decorated and laidout perfectly. The staff are very welcoming and also very dog friendly my little dog loved being treated and showed affection. Food was delicious(I had the cambert(seasoned with garlic and rosemary the best!), whitebait, and cheesy chips and my partner had the fish and chips and every bite was wonderful), there was a lot of options on the menu I definitely over indulged! A good variety of dessert. I would definitely come back...
