Brilliant for gluten free options! I ate here as a coeliac and was reassured by the chef that the food would be cooked separately and they do everything they can to reduce cross contamination. I had a gluten free Margherita pizza and fries whilst sat out in the beautiful beer garden and it was delicious - the pizza is cooked in a separate oven to the regular “muggle” pizzas and the fries are cooked in a separate fryer. They also do Violife vegan cheese on the pizzas too for those who are lactose / dairy free. The main restaurant has a menu labelled with all allergens too. I highly recommend popping in here for a cold drink in the beer garden on return from the beach 💛🌞🌅

The Wittering gastro pub experience is incredible. The welcome was friendly and they could not do enough to make us feel very welcome. With a young family we rarely get a night out, so they are precious. The atmosphere was beach cool meets relaxed class! Loved it! They had tables of families, older couples and all were having a great Friday evening. The highlight was definitely the food! Hubby had the beef cheek, melt in the mouth. I had the pork which was just stunning with gorgeous spring veg. The lemon meringue pudding was the best to finish. We shall be back with the family for a lunch!

Arguably one of the best gastro pubs in the South West. This is what Wittering has been missing for such a long and definitely a place me and my family will be returning too. The food, drink and atmosphere are all on point and something which has been carefully considered. This is not by chance and 100% down to the new landlords/management. From the looks of it, the menu is refreshed on a regular basis but if the Yorkshire pudding with Taramasalata is on I’d highly recommend. Kid menu, beer garden and super friendly staff to boot 😀 🍺 🍷 ☀️

Horrendous experience! Booked a table over the phone a week prior . Table was booked for 4.00pm on Sunday for 6 people as we were travelling down to west wittering beach and looking forward to having a nice meal after our walk. We ideally wanted an evening meal but were told that 4pm was the last available time to book a table as they close early on Sundays which was not a problem so we booked in for 4pm.

Decided to leave the beach to get to the pub slightly earlier and once back in the car had received a voicemail at 3.40pm to ask if we were aware it was last orders at 4pm? Why book us a table for 4pm and not advise of this fact? Rang and said we would be 5 minutes.

Arrived at the pub at 3.45pm and were rushed to our table and told by who we presume was the front of house manager that she would take our drinks and food order in a couple of minutes. We were also told there was no lamb left on the roast menu leaving just beef!

After literally 2 minutes she asked what we wanted and was rushing us to make a decision! Most of the table wanted a roast and were looking forward to ordering the lamb, didn’t fancy beef and apart from that the choices were basically burgers or salads which no one wanted. We advised the manager that we really were looking forward to lamb to be given a patronising reply and told that if we wanted roast to go to the Lamb pub up the road as they serve until late and will have roasts left?! We were left totally dumbfounded! We had booked a table, travelled a long way for a day out and were looking forward to a nice roast dinner but it appeared that they were not interested in having us there as they wanted to go home on time!

We did call The Lamb in West Wittering and told them we were on our way. When we walked out of The Wittering none of the staff apologised or said anything at all and all the kitchen staff were just hanging around behind the bar- obviously waiting to go home!

The Lamb had a very varied menu with a selection of starters, roasts, alternative mains and puddings. What a difference! They were fully booked but managed to find us a table inside and we had the most amazing meal and service. So if you are considering this pub I would recommend not to bother and go to The Lamb down the road who actually want the business, have an amazing menu choice and quality of food and actually look after their customers! The best thing about The Wittering was them telling us to go to their...

Being over from Northern Ireland to visit relatives in Fareham, we thought we would have a couple days in Wittering as recommended. Thanks to Google, we found this delightful gastro pub, and after making a booking by telephone (had tried a few times to make it on the web without success) we arrived to the joyous sounds of people having a great time in the garden area. We were seated in the restaurant, and presented with a menu. The menu is very small, but offered what is infamous in this establishment, alongside a blackboard of specials. I settled for the fish and chips, the other a caesar salad. The food arrived reasonably quickly, and I have to say that the fish and chips was fantastic...crisp and full of flavour, alongside some beautiful chips. Now for the downside...I thought the service lacked attentiveness. We looked forward to dessert, and after asking for the menu we waited and waited...no sign of it...so after waiting 30 mins we paid up and left a bit disappointed. Note the bill includes a 10% service charge, and to be honest if I have had the choice, it wouldn't have been paid. Don't get me wrong, the servers were polite, but we felt that it lacked in attentiveness. There is a happy medium between pestering your diners, but also "selling" your wares is what makes you money.

So a 4* from us tonight, really nice food, but very small restaurant menu and...

Attended this evening to a nice looking pub with pleasant designed garden area. Presented with the choice of 4 choices of what was advertised as street food. Second choice was the main menu. Both very overpriced for what was served. Have to say the choices were not amazing as many people have reviewed. Then they had run out of nachos and the remaining “street food” was two small pizzas and a hot dog. The whole ordering experience was a real challenge for the rather young looking bar staff with the customer service skills of the same. In summary, no steak, no nachos and over 50 minutes to wait for hot dogs to then find they had been sat on the side for a good 15 minutes. The barman apologised, saying he had paged us many times…. Sadly didn’t have the initiative to look to his left at the only large party in the garden. They offered to reheat them and were placed into a microwave behind him. Having looked at all the recent reviews this appears to be an ongoing trend. 2 years ago wasn’t bad but this time we won’t...
