We booked a table in advance and due to bad weather. We were five minutes late. We informed the restaurant about this and reminded us that they needed the table by five. We were okay with that. After sitting down we decided that we weren’t going to get starters and headed to the first course. The food was nice enough, but we ordered a vegetarian meal not vegan. I was presented with a vegetarian meal without a Yorkshire pudding we inform the restaurant about this, and they gave us a Yorkshire pudding When we were hundred Yorkshire pudding, it was stone cold and felt wet like it was just out of the freezer. We understand you can’t always have fresh food but this doesn’t feel like it’s cooked so we asked for a new one that one was fine after we ate the rest of our meal Bearing in mind that seven people with a with a baby so it would be hard to eat in such a short time period after it took around 35 to 40 minutes for the food to even arrive after we finished eating the main course we asked for desert menus Then the head of site informed us that they had another booking and that we wouldn’t have enough time for dessert Even though we didn’t have any starters, so it wouldn’t of been able to provide a three course meal in the period of time we were given this did ruin our experience, as though we felt like they were bringing quantity over quality, which is a shame because we have been there before. Had an incredible time in the...

We have visited the Boars Head on a number of occasions over the last five years and always had an enjoyable experience, whilst eating tasty food. However Sunday was a completely different and disappointing experience. We arrived at our booking with plenty of time and got shown to our table. After negotiating two other tables we were parked in a dark corner towards the right of the bar. We couldn’t sit side by side or even opposite it was that pokey. On squeezing/sitting down it was hard not to notice the dirty table with remnants of food and stickiness on it. The lovely waitress took our drinks order and brought some menus. These could also have done with a good wipe I ordered a large pinot. Oh dear, it was like fermented vinegar! We ordered our food hoping for some optimism. This took 30 mins to arrive and when we eventually saw it coming, the poor waitress couldn’t get through to our table. After some negotiations and removing countless chairs, prams and people, we eventually had our food. In all honestly, it wasn’t brilliant. I had cheese pie, the crust was burnt and the chips raw. The other dish was steak pie, this was nice and cooked lovely. All in all it was a disappointment. We felt we couldn’t really talk as we were more or less sat with another table, the place was not over clean and the food overpriced. It wasn’t even busy so no excuse there. The only upside was the lovely...

I have been a customer of The Boars Head for many years however I have just left the venue feeling very angry and upset. We booked a table for two and arrived and ordered a starter and a Main. The food and service was good upto this point. Our table was cleared and we advised our waitress that we would be having desert but just wanted a break in between and then ordered two soft drinks.

The waitress said to just let her know when we were ready to order desert. 10 mins later we were advised by the manager that our slot had now expired and were asked to finish our drinks at the bar. I then advised that we were going to order desert and mentioned that we had told the waitress this when she cleared our table. He advised us to order and eat this at the bar.

I couldn't believe what I was hearing and I told the manager that we would not worry about desert nor would we finish our drinks and found the entire experience extremely rude. Other patrons sitting next to us who witnessed what happened also agreed and commented on how bad this was.

I was planning on taking family and friends to the Boars Head who will be visiting us from overseas in the coming weeks and we usually both come here once a month but we will never be back.

I feel that we have been treated terriblely by The Boars Head. We have a choice where we dine and it will not be here ever again. ...

Was very very worried when my father in law pulled up outside this pub especially after realising it was a 4 star eatery, this is largely because I had my 8 year old non verbal autistic son with me and knew this wouldn't be a good place to be with him but didn't want to let me father in law down, I expected funny looks, tuts and sighs from staff and customer as dealing with a non verbal child is hard enough never mind trying to serve dinner to him and keep other customers happy aswell as be OK with the requests I gave due to him having an eating disorder BUT what I got was the absolute total opposite treatment from staff and customers the girls serving were amazing with him 🤗 I couldn't believe it they accepted all the requests without questions ( usually get alot of questions from servers when I tell them he will hardly eat anything) they also made sure we had everything we needed for him including an extra plate incase he did want to try the food. The food itself is out of this world! Even my teenage daughter enjoyed her meal it was that good! The place itself is beautifully decorated and not cluttered, parking was easy and wheelchair entrance too, toilet was spotless 🤗 All in all this is an amazing restaurant with amazing food and absolute top notch staff I would 💯 come back here and highly recommended anyone to call in and try it 😀

We went last night table booked for 7pm 9 adults + 4 children. Service was great, staff was friendly, pub was fairly busy, we ordered starters + mains, one of the starters had been forgotten about but staff was really apologetic about it + offered a drink on the house for the person who's starter it was, salt + pepper chicken bites are a definite must try, loaded fries was quite dry but tasty, black pudding starter is really nice aswell as pork belly starter. We all had a starter each + a main with plenty of drinks + the bill wasn't as steep as I thought it was going to be, we spent around 2+ half hours at the table + got asked if we wanted to see the desert menu but we was all to full from starters + mains... Haha everyone at our table enjoyed their meal + never found a fault with any of it burgers, sirloin steak, surf + turf, bacon chop, kids sausage + mash, kids chicken bites, kids cheeseburger, would definitely go back here + recommend. I only got two pictures one of the salt + pepper bites + surf + turf... Thank you to all at boars head for a fantastic meal + service.

Went to the Boars Head with my friend for a late lunch. The food was exceptional, we had the prawns with mango and chilli dip followed by the chicken and seafood paella. Beautiful food. Full of mango in the prawns, the paella was full of chicken with lots of seafood presented lovely. The staff were pleasant, accomadating and just a pleasure to be in the company of such lovely young people. I cannot mention the two young ladies and the young gentlemen s nss as mes because I didn’t know their names, beautiful place with a great vibe and buzzing with other guests. Just a fantastic afternoon. Will definitely be back. Thank you to all staff for great food and great service. Thank you. (Maria at Samlesbury Hall)
