Visited on a busy Sunday afternoon with my partner and two dogs. Was seated after a bit of a mess around at a uncleaned tables, which we were ok with, it was busy they hadn't gotten around to it. I ordered a cheese and pickle sandwich on white bread and my partner the soup and sandwich, and two hot drinks. The drinks arrived and no sugar came with my tea, there was a tub on the table which housed the cutlery, napkins etc which i emptied out in readiness for our food. When the food arrived the girl who was serving (not the girl who took our order, Lexi was great) was incredibly rude and had a 'can't be bothered' attitude. Once the food was dropped on the table, i asked if possible could i please have some sugar for the tea, she picked up the tub on the table which was clearly empty and with the same god awful attitude 'is there none in there'. Well obviously not, i wouldn't be sat here waiting to drink my tea if there was sugar in the pot - she waltzed off and came back with three sugar packets, said 'is three enough' left them on the end of the table and trotted off again without waiting for a reply. I understand it was busy, but speaking to anyone like that, never mind a customer is just out of order the attitude was disgusting, like i was wrong for very nicely asking for some sugar. The soup and sandwich was ok my partner said but my 'cheese and pickle' sandwich was a lump of pre-grated very cold cheese which had all formed together in a mound on a very very heavily buttered barm (not bread) with about 1/2 tea spoon of pickle. No-one came to ask if the food was ok otherwise i would have made them aware sooner and i certainly wasn't going to find someone after the earlier experience. I had 1/4 of the sandwich and my dogs shared 1/4 and i left the other half. As we were leaving, my partner went to pay and the lady clearing the tables asked how the food was, i advised too much butter but at that point i just wanted to get out i didn't want to get into the awful attitude of the earlier girl. I don't complain often, and it probably doesn't matter to this cafe that i won't be going back because i am only one customer but the member of staff i dealt with (just the one who dropped the food off) needs a serious...
Read moreAbsolutely dreadful experience. Our day was ruined by 1 member of the waiting staff (tall lady with brown bob style hair) . As we arrived there was a large number of people in the doorway waiting for the toilets which were adjacent to the cafe. I went to the counter to order coffee and my brother and partner sat down. I waited 20 minutes to be served then was told I should have been served at the table... I apologised and explained that I had no idea. The young lady hesitantly said she'd serve me anyway after seeing me stood there for a period of time why wasn't I told . I was told my drinks would be brought to me. When I arrived back at the table a lady (waitress) was unbelievably rude ... we were abruptly told we should have rang the bell when entering the building and sat down to be served (which was obscured by people waiting for the toilets) which we tried to explain. She told us " it's very clear to see and you cannot come in without ringing the bell". I told her I was very upset at how she was treating us and tried again to explain. She said " well everyone else seen it" I asked for a refund as we didn't feel welcome. She said ill see what i can do but youll wait a long time. Her manner was hateful. I have never in my life experienced anything like this and I will not be back. A lovely lady called Linda ( a volunteer) was profusely apologetic and went to speak to the operations manager about a refund and get him to speak with us. Linda returned with my refund and my brother asked if the manager was coming to talk about the situation with us and she said no he's not the real manager. We were completely shocked by this lack of care and professionalism... leaving a volunteer to deal with this incident caused by a member of staff. I hope this lady is given training in customer service and just some basic manners and decorum. Also the manager on duty do his job As we left we seen the wooden stand with the bell in the middle of the foyer .... a few minutes later I decided to go back in and take a photo of where it was situated and it had been moved to the doorway of the cafe ....
Read moreThe food at Cuerden View Cafe was absolutely delicious with generous, satisfying portions, easily the highlight of our visit! However, the experience was let down by the service flow. Despite seeing at least ten staff members on the floor, it felt disjointed as the staff seemed more focused on cleaning and tidying behind the bar. While we were welcomed warmly and seated by a lovely lady upon arrival, there was a clear lack of table focus. We repeatedly had to seek out staff attention: we went to the bar to ask to order (and were told it was table service), had to ask to order dessert and then for our main plates to be cleared as desserts arrived. We also noticed the water bottles were filthy, they are notoriously hard to clean being the style they are, without proper cleaning they were full of bits and grime. The sounds from the kitchen and from tidying the tables - clanging of plates echoed around the cafe due to the acoustics of the building. Louder music could drown this out. Coming from a hospitality background, my suggestion is to implement a zonal system where staff are assigned specific tables to look after. This would encourage them to build a better relationship with guests and ensure more proactive service, matching the high quality of the...
