3 stars for several reasons. Firstly, the pub/restaurant is based on the A6 and is easily accessible. The food there is acceptable and to generally has a good whole hearted effort type of feel to it. The place is actually on a T junction linking the A6 to Preston, A6 to Chorley and a stretch of road that leads to buckshaw village, a massively growing community. Finally, the last good thing about the pub is that they are clever with their advertisements. By placing their only self standing chalk board outside pointing towards the traffic flow of buckshaw heading up to the T junction that they are situated on must mean that they pull in plenty of much wanted attention.
However, the place isn't without its flaws. The main flaw which nags me the most is the staff at the place. Yes, the staff can be friendly and inviting but there's been several occasions of excessive waiting and the sorts which is usual for such a busy restaurant. The only other point that lets the place down is the community that visit there. Most of the people are incredibly rude and ruin the atmosphere of the pub. It's a shame really that such a well known place in whittle which has such amazing potential is let down by their most important aspect. I'm not saying, however, that the community is something you should personally avoid as the people there are a 50/50 split of kind and well mannered people and people who prefer excessive alcohol and show no manners.
I will visit the Sea View Inn in a months time and if the situation is any different then this review...
Read moreI must be missing something....first visit and high expectations after reading the reviews. We ordered the roast beef dinner which when it arrived looked like the chef/cook had tried to make it look trendy and contemporary ...the Yorkshire pud and beef piled onto the mash and veg. The food was lukewarm and judging by the taste and appearance of the food I would say most of it was frozen, cooked and plated up to be microwaved prior to serving. The beef was tasteless, resembling those slices you buy ready cooked, there was one soggy new potato, mixed with tasteless mash, a tiny piece of broccoli and hard carrots which had some strange yellow sauce on them. The Yorkshire pud was flat and gravy tasted like packet stuff. The meals of the couple on the next table looked equally unappetising and heard the woman say her food wasn’t very hot, Tired and outdated furnishings in pub. Definitely won’t be...
Read moreI would start by saying the staff are always very polite and friendly. Every time i have visited they can't do enough for you. They offer a decent variety of drinks as you would expect. The food is what I would call basic pub grub. Offers a mix of things from light bites to full mains etc. I had the salmon and prawn salad with seafood sauce. It is what it is .......mixed salad items...a decent portion. Large pieces of flaked salmon...prawns.... slice of lemon for squeezy purposes and a pot of sauce. Nice it was separate for those of us trying to be healthy as can put as much of as little of it on as you want. £10.95 . Would recommend to anyone. Only reason I did not give 5 is firstly you can't award four and a half and secondly......outdoor decked area furniture is a little tired and...
