Gardener's Retreat — Restaurant in Colchester

Unfortunately there were 5 of us (including an 18 month old) waiting over an hour for our food along with other disappointed customers after initially being told it was a 20 minute wait which would’ve been acceptable. We went up multiple times to politely ask just for the child’s meal only to be told there were three other tickets in front of us and didn’t receive any apology. Sadly it wasn’t the best visit. Staff were friendly and it’s in a nice garden centre. Plenty of seating too. Coffee itself was nice, and the dessert was delicious. The food was slow to arrive which meant we had finished our coffees already, and unfortunately I also found a long hair on the dish. Toasted sandwich was too dry for me. My partners meal was fine, no problems, so perhaps my experience...

Poor, sold my sausage roll to another customer, 2 of us ordered sandwiches without chips. Still get charged for chips. 2 of us ordered chips separately and paid, sandwiches turned up on own as requested. Why not tell customers, to keep chips and not buy extra ones.
