The Abbey Arms — Restaurant in Colchester

If you were driving along the main road it would be easy to not notice the Abbey Arms, especially as the entrance faces the other way and I didn't see any classic pub signage hanging... Inside you will get served by friendly staff and have a large choice of drinks to choose from. There is a table to play at, and a large screen to watch the footy. I didn't think there was loads of seating inside, and to be fair if your having a quick pint, it probably doesn't matter. Whilst they have some benches outside, it is hard to ignore...

We were unanimous with my mates - best pub in England. Not pricey, food was great (large portions too!) and, most importantly - great service. The landlady was extremelly nice, let us bring our bikes in, so they don't get stolen, plus she gave us some free bread when she heard we cycled there from London. Strongly...
