The Magnet Pub — Restaurant in Colchester

First visit in a year. I like the decor and artwork. Also good to see the use of acoustic damping panels on the walls. General cleanliness, including the toilets, was satisfactory.

Overall I am sorry to say the cons outweighed the pros. I appreciate the bar serving area is small, but with every square inch packed it looks congested and untidy. The selection of ale on draught was uninspiring. Furthermore, I find the booth seats a strange design, as one has to climb in and up into them, then sort of perch. Not comfortable. Finally, as a courtesy I will not identify the barman in question, but I could not but notice the fact his hair looked like it needed a good wash. Come on guys , turn the magnetism up a...

Well kept (regularly changing) cask ales. Even had one with Sabro hops in which is rare.

A nice bonus is that St Botolph's brewery beers are sold here too (the brewery is in the Colchester area)these are well worth a try.

A nice range of craft beers in can and bottle are also available.

Bar snacks and whiskeys available.

A physical beer list on every table which is a nice touch.

Comfortable, clean, nice mix of modern and classic pub styles. Really friendly staff. Good prices.

Saturday 13th January 2024 Tonight, i came for a pint in this really friendly small quaint Micropub to drown my sorrows after Bradford Citys apauling toadsy at Collchester United.
