The Dormy is a lovely setting and the staff are welcoming and friendly. The food we had was delicious and well presented. The only frustration of our experience was the number of times we were asked for our room number. We weren't staying at the Dormy so I suspect this is just a reflection that most of their diners are staying at the hotel. It was just frustrating that the staff didn't communicate this to each other - we booked the table as non residents, we told the person who greeted us, 2 different bar staff, the restaurant manager and a server in the restaurant. Disappointing dinner as the prices did not justify quality and portion size of the dishes. The beetroot starter was an absolute joke. The simplest, tasteless and smallest piece of beetroot. For £10 this started our dinner off quite poorly. We told the staff it was too small to be considered a starter for an adult yet they did nothing to remedy the situation. I’m not sure why they sat people all together when the restaurant was nearly empty. It makes it a little awkward when you can hear every word that the next table are saying and vice versa.
