Extremely poor service. Rude insulting staff. Dire food. Tiny portion sizes. It's a real shame because the pub and gardens are lovely. We visited here for a Sunday roast on a summers day. We were told it would be a 25 minute wait before we were allowed to order. We went back in 20 minutes later to order and paid £57 for 2 adult meals and 3 children's meals. 10 minutes after taking our money, we were told there weren't enough roast dinners and that 2 children would have to have "something with chips" because they don't have any other options. This is apparently because they took a big order 5 minutes before ours (during the time we were told we weren't able to order). When the food EVENTUALLY came (another long wait), the chips were hard, the goujons were hard, the parsnips were hard and the beef was full of gristle. The burger was tasteless and didn't even have a side salad. The childrens portions were tiny. I wouldn't advise ordering a children's meal for a child older than 4. My children were still hungry afterwards and £6.50 doesn't even get them a drink. A few chips, a small sausage and a small spoonful of peas was all that was on one plate. If we hadn't been tired and hungry after a busy morning out, we would have left without eating. We complained to the server and she was not interested in listening to our complaint. We were calm and polite throughout yet she stood making excuse after excuse for each element of the food and stating "nobody else had a problem with it". She said that our children must have "an overly big appetite" and stared at them, repeatedly insinuating they were overweight. (They are slim 6 year old gymnasts with normal appetites). She claimed there was nothing wrong with the food and that we were lying. She refused to accept or apologise for any of the poor quality food. She became ruder and ruder, despite our calm and went in to get her husband. Her husband came out shouting and firing insults at us, without even allowing us to tell him what was wrong with our food. We were told to leave and they were shouting insults about us and our children, all the way to our car. The man blocked our exit and tried to get in my husbands face. My husband was trying to get to the handrail as his disability makes steps hard for him. The man told him to use the other exit (with no handrail). My husband explained he physically cannot get down the other steps, yet the man still blocked his path in an aggressive manner. We remained calm and resolved throughout, despite the unprofessional man and his wife firing insults at us and shouting aggressively. So basically if you go to this pub and try to make a complaint, you will be verbally assaulted, humiliated and squared up to. The food is not worth even half it's price tag. I wouldn't return to this pub even if i was paid and in 14 years of working in hospitality I have never witnessed anybody deal this badly with a complaint. I have a degree in hospitality management, have managed successful pubs myself and currently review restaurants for a living. The managers of this pub are the most rude and unprofessional I have ever come across. Perhaps they should apply to be on Ramsey's Kitchen Nightmares?!

Fantastic local pub, great selection of beers and other drinks. The food choices provide something for everyone. The quality of the cooking was great with good portion sizes. Its not a very large pub so booking in advance maybe recommend at busy times. I would definitely recommend you give them a try if you are passing or staying nearby.

Nice to find an old style pub, low ceilings with beams, large old fireplace, plenty of places to sit inside and out with a large car park. Had a look at the menu but only called in for a drink, food did look nice and seemed a lot of local sourced beer and food, think you may have to book for food just to be on the safe side.

I was totally ripped off when I visited this pub for lunch last week. Sandwiches were massively overpriced for £10 each and my BLT consisted of a couple of slices of poor quality bacon and a bit of limp lettuce.

When we got the bill a service charge of 10% was added to the drinks and food total for service! Ha ., what service?

Totally underhand and a total rip off meaning my dank sandwich cost £11 and not £10.

I've seen a service charge added in restaurants many times but NEVER in a pub when you stop for a pint and a sandwich.

The charge was not pointed out to me when I paid and I didn't spot it until I got home.

Absolutely outrageous - the owners should hang their heads in shame for ripping off their local customers

I won't be visiting again and I will tell everyone, locally, I can to avoid this place ....

Dick Turpin was more honest than the owners of The Bakers Arms .... Such a shame as Somerford Keynes is a lovely village only spoiled by a greedy greedy landlord at the...

Ordered gammon and chips for a meal to find it was way too salty (i know gammon is salty but it was like licking a salt lick) went to the counter to ask if some sort of compensation was available for the inconvenience, whether it be another meal or a refund. She quite abbrasively and snappily refused. I offered for her to try the meal to get my point across. She once again refused and started yelling at me and continued to say how there food was 'exquisite' and 'flawless'. She continued to storm out after me, and told me leave for complaining. (Don't complain often if at all) Little word of advice, don't eat here. Especially the gammon. They charged £32 for two people for a barely edible meal, I am now suffering for stomach cramps and a sore throat. One more thing, they refuse to listen to customer complaints, so if you eat here, don't expect any compensation. (One last detail I forgot to mention, I was grabbed from behind by the waitress in question which to my knowledge is...
