Tang Chinese — Restaurant in Coventry

We are very unhappy about our experience at this restaurant- both in terms of food and service. There was only one other couple in the restaurant when we got there. Firstly we asked to change a couple of veg. ingredient included in a grilled fish dish and they were funny about it. The server asked in the kitchen and they eventually agreed to do it (while assuming we wanted to change due to allergies but never said that), then the chef and manager started complaining about having to change the ingredients which we could easily hear- so rude! They did change the ingredients in the end, but their attitude was so bad. If they couldn't change the ingredients, fine, but to complain about the customers within earshot of them! Secondly, when the food arrived, the grilled chilli fish wasn't good- dry, not fresh, not any flavour except salty. But worse than that, the pork mince noodles tasted off, not sure what ingredient in there was off exactly but we both felt upset stomachs later. We informed the server who took the dish to the kitchen. The chef tasted the dish to check it and- wait for it- brought the same dish that he tasted back to the table for us to eat after saying that there is nothing wrong with it and it 'just tastes like that'. They just left the noodles at the table and no further action. Unbelievable. Also, went to pay with cash and we didn't even get the 10% discount even though the server had confirmed that we could get it. Shocking...

Terrible experience with this restaurant. We ordered stir fried pork ribs and some of us complained the pork smell which often happen with uk pork due to their butchery. But it is very easy to get rid of that taste with normal Chinese cooking techniques so we wondered whether the chef hasn’t cooked this dish very well and left the porky odor. We then complain to the lady waitress about it and we are looking for a refund or just simply change another dish otherwise what else you can possibly do if the dish has already been cooked. We also asked the lady to tell the chef to try it if he was concerned. The lady then returned with the exact same dish and claimed the chef has done something with the dish so that’s it. We felt betrayed and directly asked the lady if we could just have a refund when the chef suddenly turned up and started shouting at my friend who complained, saying it was our fault to complain about the meat quality. I do not that anyone will think it is a pleasant meal after experiencing all the conflict and still have to pay full price meanwhile getting shouting at. There were no apologies or follow up on this incident by the restaurant and all we got was a pair of Disney hair band. I admit that the food at this place is delicious. However, they engage in fraudulent practices when it comes to charging. The cash register clearly indicates a 10% discount for cash payments, and I even personally confirmed this with the waiter. But when it came time to pay, they suddenly informed us that certain dishes were not eligible for the discount. This detail was not communicated beforehand, and the waiter was well aware that we had specifically gone to withdraw cash. I am extremely angry.
