We went for a Sunday lunch (2 people) which was really nice. I had the roast pork, really tender which I would recommend, veg all lovely. Only got about 3 roast potatoes which were a little overdone and a tiny portion of gravy. We ordered an extra portion of gravy which didnt arrive so I had to chase the waitress (found at the bar chatting with 2 other waitresses/bar staff). We also ordered sides of pigs in blankets and cauliflower cheese. Both were nice but INCREDIBLY tiny portions but nice. If the staff were a bit more attentive and the sides which you pay extra for were bigger it would be even better.

Really friendly staff from when you walk in and the food off the daytime menu we tried was great. Daytime and evening fixed price menu is good value for money as long as there are things on there you like, which tends to be traditional pub fare such as fish and chips. Must admit my nachos as a starter were a welcome surprise being both home cooked and generous! Range of real ales on tap including Purity when we went. Wines look pretty good too. To top it all off it's got a really nice ambience and it's dog friendly, which gives it a bit of a country pub vibe. Glad I went back after several years away.

Worst roast potatoes I've ever eaten. The potatoes were more like boiled potatoes, not fluffy on the inside and no crispyiness on the outside, I don't know who decided to add chilli flakes but it made my whole meal just taste like chilli, I hate spicy foods and I don't think anyone is expecting to get roast potatoes seasoned with chilli, it doesn't say they have chilli flakes on the menu, horrible. The second thing was there are flys everywhere so while my mouth was burning we are all swatting huge flys away from our food. The staff however are always nice there.

This Restaurant/Pub is very nicely decorated and modern with fires dotted round throughout even though it's open plan it's very cosy with comfortable furniture and soft lighting. The food is tasty, however you don't get much of it,the portions are quite small,I visited with my partner and close friend,my friend had the no beef chilli, the vege option, there was a small dish of rice, chilli and a whole dish of green jalapenos,my partner had bacon and mushroom carbonara again not very big in size,I had the Sea Bass fillets, which consisted of two VERY small fillets, hardly any meat on them, four very small potatoes and two spears of Asparagus. We all felt disappointed with the portion sizes, however the food was tasty, waiting time was ok,we visited late afternoon, when it got to 5pm/6pm the pub got busysier and the staff seemed stressed bringing out the food to other tables,I also noticed two Male members of staff had some sort of fallout which was obvious I felt this was unprofessional. I gave three stars due to this and the small portions of food,I would recommend visiting in the Afternoon when it's quieter as they don't seem to cope well on the evening. I would visit again but in the Afternoon and order something off the bigger appetite menu,as they have a smaller meal menu, and a larger one, however I did think our three standard meals...

When the Styvechale Arms closed, along with a group of friends, the Burnt Post became our “local”. Back then it had two bar areas and the management and staff were always polite to their customers.

Having moved away from the city, I was back visiting friends (it is still their local) and we went to the Burnt Post.

Before we got there I was told “Don’t expect it to be anything like you remember”. What a prudent statement that turned out to be.

The bar staff were rude, ignorant youngsters, who chatted with what I can only assume were either friends or regulars, rather than serving customers. When eventually I was served I was given a pint of Peroni in a non Peroni glass, and the lager was flat.

Upon returning to the bar area to advise them of this, I had another wait, following which my beer was poured into another glass and given back to me, along with a look from the person serving me suggesting that I had inconvenienced her!

The table we were sat at was sticky and obviously hadn’t been wiped down for quite some time.

My friends stated that this was pretty much the norm, and that they “put up with it” as it is their regular meeting place and other pubs in the area have closed down.

So thankful that I’ve moved away really, because I wouldn’t be tolerating that on a...

Having previously had a disappointing weekday meal here we returned to try again. Sadly our experience this time was no better, the pub interior was cold, and the service was extremely slow. One of the Sunday roasts had sold out but we were not told this when seated, only when we tried to order. After quite a long wait our starters did eventually arrive but were cold and VERY salty, unfortunately we were unable to attract the attention of any staff so this went unrectified.. Sunday lunch looked great when it arrived but unfortunately these meals were also Luke warm at best and the roast potatoes (advertised as delicious and crispy) were most definitely not crispy but rather undercooked new potatoes, again we were ignored by staff so it was not until our table was cleared that we were able to pass on our comments, a refund quickly followed but we left hungry and very, very disappointed. We will not be returning for a...
