Grand Bay — Restaurant in Crawley

Went there for the first time this past Saturday for a reggae gig. It had a friendly atmosphere, nice door staff. and had decent clean toilets. I did find it annoying to be served drinks from plastic cups and get charged regular bar prices for them and worse still it didn't have many people to justify serving in plastic cups. Come on guys, STANDARDS 🤔. I also ordered food, which was reasonable priced, a decent portion size and it tasted ok, maybe better quality chicken would make it great, And if you gonna offer jerk chicken make sure you cook it on a barbecue instead of the oven, it makes a big difference!!!! It's authentic, BE AUTHENTIC WITH HIGH STANDARDS. This was also served on one cheaper than cheaper flimsy paper plate 🤬. NB if you gonna serve in paper plates, because you don't have capacity for extra dish washing equipment, then at least serve us in better quality paper plates. It's insulting to the immigrant population, that you don't hold us in higher regard when you offer us dirt cheap alternatives. A little more care and effort into the customer experience would go a long way, in this place becoming the number one destination for all people of colour to visit. I stopped going to pubs in Crawley a long time ago because they stink and reek of good ol fashioned English racism and rudeness. I only visited because I heard it was African owned (Mauritius) yes it's African if you didn't know! The DJ on the night was not very good, it's more like a spoilt kids hobby for him, he had no love n passion and for some reason thought he couldn't play afrobeats on a reggae night, PS, we are all Africans, it makes no difference. That could improve and make this the number one hot spot in Crawley for people of colour. I'd definitely come back again 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼, but I hope to see far higher and better standards, after all we are paying and we would also like to have quality food and drink and service. Could be good if it gets busier with time . A surprisingly large dance area and DJ stand. Music became so loud that it becomes near impossible to hold a conversation around the perimeter of the dance floor. Access to outdoor smoking area could be good be a good socialising area . It spoilt things immensely when we were refused permission to take drinking glasses outside. We enquired about whether we had the option of taking drink outside in a plastic cup (which means it cuts down the risk of drinks left unattended inside from being spiked.?) But were told no. So not a very drinker/ smoker, /talker based atmosphere. Ordered a few weeks ago from Uncle Pat’s, unfortunately due to my work schedule I ordered late but this place still managed to deliver. I feel so bad because the owner ended up staying later to make my meal after his staff went home, and he even hand delivered it himself.

Leroy you are a godsend, the food was absolutely amazing. Probably the best pizza I’ve had for years even after ordering from big chains like dominos etc. It was a pleasure meeting you and I can only imagine how happy the staff are that work there.
