Absolutely gutted. My 3 previous visits here were amazing, always had the rib eye, and never had a problem. A friend came to visit from Leicester, so bought her here for a late lunch yesterday. Unfortunately both meals were horrible. Lamb shank was very dry and literally had to attack it to get it off the bone, mash was a hard lump, and gravy was of lumpy marmite consistency. Horseshoe gammon looked good, but I'd say it had been previously cooked, and heated up, badly, then had a sauce poured over (definitely not a 'glaze' as described on the menu). Also, mixer taps not working so had to pay the extortionate price for a small bottle of coke!! I doubt very much we'll be returning

Went for sunday lunch advertised as served with yorkshire pudding., roasted parsnips, crisp and golden roast potatoes, buttery mash, seasonal veg and lashings of red wine gravy. Well the reality was not that! 3 tiny roast potatoes no parsnips one teaspoon of mash, beef was dry and tough and staff were dismissive when pointed out problems. We were told manager had gone home. However he then came down and apoligised and said we would not have to psy. Deserts were ordered the cheeseboard was good but the sponge and custard was frozen in the middle. Such a shame as its a nice pub with good beer Stonegate pubs need to sort it out.

I recently booked a large group Baby Shower here at the Green Man and we opted for the Afternoon Tea. I absolutely couldn’t recommend enough! We had a reserved private event space, all the tables were set out beautifully with fresh flowers, teas and coffee’s. The food was beyond delicious and the amount of food and portion sizes were extremely generous! Teresa and the team couldn’t do enough for us and made sure the day went perfectly. I would absolutely recommend the Afternoon Tea and it was perfect for a large group! Thanks again for having us we all had a brilliant day!

Incredibly poor service - and not for the first time

Told to preorder as it would be busy and we were a group. And it wasn't - we were pretty much the only people eating from what I could tell

Starters were OK, but had major issues with the mains

When we were eating the starters, we were asked if we wanted our mains. We asked for 5 minutes to finish before - the implication was that the food was ready at this point, but people were still eating their starters at this point (on a previous visit, they had actually managed to bring out the mains before the starters!)

Around 25 minutes later, the mains were delivered. Most of the food was delivered cold or barely warm, and was largely inedible. It was clear that the food had been sat and waiting for this long - the mash and sauces had started congealing and forming a skin.

One order had been missed completely (even though the preorder had checked everything with the caller) whilst another was delivered the wrong food - although the replacement would not be charged for, it was just as bad as most of the rest - stone cold peas, warm chips and a greasy piece of chicken

When we complained, the guy in charge was rude, arrogant and dismissive of these complaints. He claimed the food had been bought fresh and that he didn't know why it would be cold (although would later admit it was only being kept warm at this stage - so changed his story part after a little prodding). Whilst the complaints were on going, the food was left on the table - this would later be used as a reason why the food was cold, not because they had delivered it barely warmed through at best 10 minutes earlier

One person who did get hot food asked for gravy - waited so long that their food went cold

Offered free desserts for the problems - surely a joke with how poor the rest of the food turned out. There was also a paltry discount offered on the food - when no one really ate anything as it was so bad

And to cap it off, the 'team leader' greatly upset my nephew with his behaviour and arguments.

Won't be returning any more...

We came for boxing day lunch with my kids and my brother who had diabetes type 1, we pre-ordered our food and clearly stated he needs to know all ingredients and gramature of them due to inject the right amount of insulin, also insulin needs to be injected strictly 15min before he starts eating. I have called the pub 3 hours before we went there to make sure they got the message and was told to speak with manager when we get there. When we arrived, she said she can't tell me what exact ingredients are there and they can't weigh it!! She was not impressed that we requested it! I was very polite and tried to explain how important this is for my brothers health, and it could even be fatal, and if we knew before we wouldn't come as he won't be able to eat! We said he definitely can't have dessert now and we will have to massively judge insulin he injects (they never served his dessert, even that this was set menu £30 per person, someone else could have eaten it). She said that food will arrive 1.45pm (we was booked for 1pm!) Insulin needs to be injected strictly 15min before meal, food arrived 7min later (it was only prawn salad) which already changes the way insulin works in a body, then we had to wait another 45min for mains!!! Which meant that insulin he had hugely dropped the sugar levels as the food wasn't there! I had to get him crisps from the bar so he could have a little something before the sugar dropped to dangerous levels! Plus on top of everything, food quality was very poor!!! I had salmon which was covered in melted cheese! Some frozen roast potatoes and few veg, it was horrible! We paid £30 per person, I wouldn't pay £5 for what was on my plate. Nobody even said sorry! Staff was not helpfull and not happy to be there! When I asked for something they was rolling their eyes! Shocking experience! I never usually complain but this wasn't good experience I'm afraid. We will not be back and we will not recommend this place to anyone. Very...
