In a quiet, tiny village in the Peak District. Visited on February 8th. It was cold and dark, it felt like we were in the middle of nowhere... because we were. Imagine our surprise then to find what qualifies as one of the best meals we've had of this cuisine ... anywhere, from Dubai to Melbourne and London. It was ridiculously good. Really, absoultely magnificent. The two guys hosting us, one was the chef, could not have been freindlier, more connected, if we'd been related or known each other for decades. Thick, rich south yorkshire accents, with a weclome to our home, make it your home attitude. Can't really go on to say much more because the words aren't there. Simply stunning, authentic indian food tasting as if it had been cooked with oodles of love and care. This is one of the few restaurants that exist today, that are BYO alcohol if you want to. So not only did we get to eat some of the best Indian food in the country, but we drank exactly what we wanted and ... ended up eating out for fantastic value for money. If you enjoy proper curries, authentic Indian food and are willing to invest a little effort to do so ... this is a MUST visit peak district restaurant. Really ... it is. (Image from...

My partner and I had to move away from the sheer stench and filth eminating from downstairs, including but not limited to rat infestations due to rotting food left by the restaurant outside of our apartment door. They never close their bins which are conveniently located right below our bathroom window, meaning we also had a fly infestation. I am legally disabled, and the owner took it upon himself to break into our flat when I was home alone and terrified. He then proceeded to accuse us of stealing money, which we have never and will never do.

The only reason I'm giving more than one star is because the food is relatively nice, though the naan breads were extremely thin and overpriced, and even though we were directly upstairs we still had to wait sometimes over an hour for our delivery.

Toursists may enjoy it here, but don't be fooled by their 'historic' background as the restaurant changes hands every couple of years or so. If you want a decent curry delivered, go to Maazi instead as I've literally never had a bad experience.

One more thing - the young waiter and the older blonde waiter are absolutely fantastic and are wasted in such an...

My previous report spoke highly of this restaurant and was accurate however I have to say that although I am sure they are busy they could at least be accurate.

Told meal would be ready in 45 mins for collection or 1hr 40 for delivery. Opted to pick up.

Called after 45 mins to check if ready (as they are always running late) and told would be another 20 mins so waited a little more to pop down.

Arrived and told would be another 20 mins. So basically I feel just fobbed off and would have been better having it delivered.

After another 45 mins I asked for my money back, cancelled the order and left.

I will vote with my feet and use somewhere else next time.

If this was the first time it would be forgiven but alas not.

Shame as could be so much better just by being honest and open.

Forgot to add...lots of people waiting (not just me) in the little area and constant fobbing off on the phone for clients who had ordered delivery.

Not much Corona distancing in evidence being managed...

Just had dinner at Curry’s cottage at lover leap. Very cute little Indian restaurant. Atmosphere: very nice and romantic but people like me with eye sight issues might struggle due to dim lights (depends where you sit) Service: was nice and quick. Though server was not very social. He wasn’t rude but he didn’t smiled either. Not even once. Food: taste was amazing. Spot on. Portions: mains are more than enough for 1 person but portions are out of proportion. Had to order extra naan and portion of rice to finish mains (didn’t wanted to have a take away) so now I’m stuffed. Price: we ordered mix grill as starter, saag paneer (Spinach with cheese cubes) and Dali Gosht (lentils with lamb), 2 naan and 2 portion or pulao rice and paid £41.95. Overall experience was very nice and I will come back if I will visit stoney Middleton again.

have passed this curry house several times but today, I stopped and gave it a try, all I can say is wow, the food was absolutely stunning, We all tried different dishes and i have to say i have never had a Indian meal with this amount of flavour, even down to the pea rice, i personally went for the chefs special which was chicken palal, a little spicy for me but the flavour was delicious, couldn't quite finish mine so they boxed it up for me to bring home. hubby had special briyani and said it was delicious, staff are so friendly, will definitely be returning, Just remember to bring your own alcohol as they don't serve alcohol here, they do sell soft drinks only.
