Sunday 29th may 2021.
We went to the Crispin for dinner and the outside area is nice.
HOWEVER..
When the food came out, we were utterly disapointed at the quality of the food. At best, it was on par with a school lunch but I think that would be generous. The shocking part for us was when the bill came it was £15 per meal for a very watery chicken pie and a Lidl style chicken burger.
We did complain, and the staff gave us £10 back off the final bill, because the chicken pie was watery and tasteless. This was fine, and I didn't feel the need to write any reviews as it was a fair resolution to the quality of the meal. Sadly, this wasn't the worst part.
About an hour after the meal my girlfriend started to feel sick, and within 2 hours of eating she was being violently sick which lasted most the night. We had eaten exactly the same food for 48 hours prior to the meal so all of symptoms were pointing to food poising. I'm not the type to post a review, but sadly, if you're going to this place for food I'd stay well clear!
MOST IMPORTANTLY. This is the second time I have posted this review. After the first time, the owner called my girlfriends mobile number that she used to book the pub. He called and threatened that if we did not remove the review that he would get his solicitors involved for slander. We came to an agreement that if I removed the review he would give me a full refund, and he has not. All I have done is post an honest review of our experience at the Crispin, and it would explain why they have such a high rating as it would appear he calls anyone who leaves a bad review and bullys them into removing it. Do not go...

Only beef on menu
We ordered and wow what a disappointment we feel we had for £14 each The food was hot but not well presented Put in what appeared to be a pasta bowl swimming in gravy To top it off we had two waitresses who really were not customer facing at all Time for the owners to look at this business from a customers perspective and see what’s happening A smile costs nothing Enthusiasm is needed To top it off I pay the bill Not told how much Just place your card here I had to ask how much Never got a card receipt of a summary of what we had I have scored it 3 My real opinion is one so as not to appear to negative to the pub
A most gracious reply from the owner to which I give great credit to From our part I do refer back to the score it was a 3 as I felt the experience we received was lower than what you normally offer as being in the customer service industry myself I am aware of the shortage of staff A smile shows in the eyes as well as behind a mask Enthusiasm does make a big part of any job or employment I have tried not to be to detrimental as I am aware this is your livelihood If I had made you aware at the time it would have been a complaint which I did not want to do We came for the experience and unfortunately on this occasion we did not get that I would come to you again to see if that experience was better next time I believe we take customers experiences and use them for better for change Once again this is not a bad place Just on the day we did not get the experience we...
Read morePleasant but undistinguished Robinsons pub. A ceiling festooned with mugs and jugs in an attempt to give character to what is an ordinary village pub. Creditably, it doesn't project itself as a pretentious gastropub - you can go in just for a drink if you want, but food prices, as with a lot of these generically "nice" Peak District pubs, are still somewhat on the high side. Eg. typically, Small bowl of soup & bread roll £4.95. £6 for starters, £10-17 for mains, £5 for desserts. Beer is £3.20 per pint.. As with all this type of Peak Park pub they get away with charging these prices as expense seems not to deter the car borne elderly tourists for whom the recession has had no effect. They do a £7 two course "seniors" special and this was slightly better value but basic quality. Car park full and plenty of these "seniors" in when I visited but no locals or youngsters. Food looked to be decent quality and quantity but is a modest 2 slice toasted cheese and ham sandwich with a bit of salad really worth paying £5.95 for.The fancy salad has a bit of sliced fruit in it so the punters feel that they're paying for a gastronomically superior cheese toastie but it's a £6 cheese toastie containing 50 pence worth of ingredients...
