Fantastic little place within the Prison grounds. Sounds odd I know, but this is an open prison and looks more like a chalet style holiday park. You're served by the prisoners and all the cooking is done by them too. They're overseen by Assessors because they're on NVQ courses to rehabilitate them. All food is freshly prepared and is excellent quality, a lot of it is grown by them too. We've always had great service and the food prices are very reasonable. We popped in for lunch. Our second visit which was 5* just as our first visit was. My husband had the burger. I had a bacon bagette with salad. Bakewell Tart and proper custard to share. Excellent value for money. Presentation was very good. Large portions. Very good quality and very fresh food. The place was very clean. The staff were all very helpful and polite. Nice gardens. Coffee is Costa. Adjacent garden shop is brill for both fresh garden produce and quality plants at unbelievable prices. It is now our favourite place for brunch, lunch or just a coffee. I really love this place, the staff are very polite and helpful, they prepare and cook fabulous dishes. Its great value for money, the WC is very clean and always tidy.there is also a great plant shop/ nusery called the secret gardens were you can purchase a wide variety of plants/ trees/ shrubs.
